The Cricket Thread (part 11) - from The Champing

up the stars. give us that fkn mace back

He is having a poor season with the bat. 141 runs off 141 balls from 7 innings. No one who has scored more than 43 runs in the season has a worse strike rate.

Who do we have to root around here to get a decent game of cricket to watch?

The Pakistani’s brought out here for the Big Bash have, almost to a man, been absolutely garbage!!

Any surprises?

With like, what, 3 other T20 tournaments overlapping the Big Bash for large chunks, most which are more lucrative than the BBL as they’re tied to IPL franchises, the Pakistani’s seem to be the “left overs” that we roll out to a large degree. Rizwan and Babar look like they’ve never picked up a bat before in most of their knocks. Shaheen Shah Afridi got smoked when he was around and Hasan Ali got eviscerated first up today.

They’re probably not the most marketable guys either as their English isn’t great by and large.

They have certainly bumped up TV audience$ (and dare I say, attendance$) as the same players are prohibited from participating in the IPL.

But their contributions onfield have been mediocre to say the least.

If you look at T20I numbers for Rizwan (ave: ~19, SR: ~100) and Babar (ave ~24, SR: ~115) when playing in Australia, it shouldn’t be a huge shock they’ve struggled here.

Both perform well below their career T20I averages and SR in Australia. Granted, they aren’t facing the exact same bowlers as the Aus T20I side, but cricket in Australia does not lack for bowling depth.

I know nothing but have my own theory on Hawkeye. From several cases I think the decision on Hawkeye is in someway influenced by the bounce off the pad, not just by the flight of the ball before it hits the pad.,

JFM must have 9 lives!

Death, taxes and the Renegades being absolutely gash.

They are horrible.

JFM stinking the joint up over and over and over.
Rizwan going at a run a ball.

Just awful…

The renegades remind me of Essendon

As a sporting organisation, they have to be the worst in Australia.

Alyssa Healy to hang up the gloves at the end of the series vs India.

Outstanding career.

Great career

I really liked her commentary on the Ashes and think she will have a good media career

Well, their recruitment has been very Essendon-like. This year’s crop… hoo boy!.. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

You know you’ve nailed the recruitment when you tell the highest profile overseas player to retire out because they aren’t scoring fast enough…

part of me wonders if the offer of a permanent gig with fox hastened this decision

Maybe, but she has had repeat injuries for the last few years. I think it’s just the difference between whether she played the T20 WC or not.

I think the end was pretty close for Alyssa irrespective of commentary gigs.
