It was easy to dislike them back in the day with players like Symcox, McMillan and Nel (amongst others). I find it harder these days, though. I mean, who is there to hate?
They were a basket case a couple of years ago, but they could lay solid claims for being the best all-format team in the world right now. Bavuma and Markram have got them humming.
Hated them from their return and still can’t stand them. Sending a D grade team to a NZ test tour should have seen them banned again
On the flip side, I used to love watching Kallis, Pollock, Donald, De Villiers, Steyn etc play. They’ve produced some seriously good cricketers.

Graeme smith doesn’t get talked about as one of the great captains. He completely transformed that team. His autobiography was a great read too
