I think I’ve cracked it

I’m really not sure that old chestnut has been true for a fair while now. Certainly say the last sort of ā‰ˆ 10 years in the Langer-McDonald era.

I’m all ears

Didn’t play FC nor List A last season
The year before he was 7th in the runs for NSW in shield, scoring a solid 69 from only 15 innings with only 2 ducks; and 8th in the List A runs with 83 at 21

It’s genuinely bewildering.

And there would be probably 20 to 30 bats Sheffield shield bats pretty ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  off.

I don’t see why we’re looking at Handscomb again - they’re basically the same age but at least Handscomb has the runs.

Made a pair in the Aus A game against India A - if he had made any runs, I’m sure they would have at least considered him.

As in, I don’t even know why he was in the A team.

Oh, this particular decision is ABSOLUTELY bewildering.

Agree there.

Just saying the NSW = Baggy Green thing isn’t what it was.

Yeah, it makes no sense at all. There was even talk about Stanlake coming in a month or so ago as well before he got injured. Selections based on glimpses in the past of players they could be never goes well. It all seems to be a bit desperate to me.

Apparently he’s a great bloke.

I was shocked and amazed that Stanlake failed to get through a 50 over game.

I once bumped into Billy Stanlake while walking to the office. He is a very tall guy.

Make of this what you will.

Was he injured as a result?

I suspect if I’d injured him, the bloke built like a brick shithouse walking next to him (Marcus Stoinis) would have injured me right back.

Your eyesight must be terrible.

When the selectors meet, they say ā€œthis Billy Stanlake, he’s quickā€ and I’d say ā€œyeah, but he’s built like Bruce Reid and injury-prone like him, and 25% as good a bowlerā€. Pace isn’t everything…[pick Fergus O’Neill, you numbskulls.

Tshepang Dithole playing for the Saffers in the tour match against our boys.

I’ll bet he’s grateful that Rev. Spooner isn’t a cricket commentator.

76 ball ton for Marnus in the warm up game. Not sure the bowling was fantastic but I guess it’s a good sign?

Well that sorts out who is batting 3 then.
