It also makes no sense at all.
Ah, Boycott⌠the British equivalent of Neil Harvey or Ian Chappell. The go-to person to be wheeled out when the team isnât travelling so well.
Heâs spot on though⌠Bazball is right up there with Brexit as a complete ruse which has hoodwinked the British⌠MacCullumâs a fraudâŚ
My fond hope is that they change nothing at all in the English game. Long live Bazball! The longer they keep playing that way, the more we will win.
The series certainly isnât over imo , we have looked frail / misguided at times but England have been too idiotic to cash in.
Not sure how itâs been playing this year but the Adelaide Oval pitch will probably suit their batsmen a little more, mask the footwork issues a bit. But against that , we probably get Cummins back ( though heâs not played a match at any level in months ) and our batting lineup should also appreciate Adelaide.
Note that England now need to win all three remaining Tests (including the rained-out one in Sydney) to claim the Ashes.
So double-or-nothing?
Been playing ok but on occasions a bit of life in the wicket but we have had some rain around before the last couple of games.
By time the test comes around I think it will be flat and dry and true to bat on.
Probably will be the best batting conditions of the series
Iâll put it out there, I didnât love the fact that Lyon sooked it up at being overlooked for this test match.
Yes youâve been a very good bowler, a consistent player, but mate, youâre 38, no need to carry on like you have permanent dibs on a place in the team. Youâre still going to play more often than not.
Watching the test unfold, Iâd probably have preferred him as an option myself to say Doggett but thatâs a bit Harry hindsight as you couldnât have really dropped him after a solid debut in Perth. And then if youâre comparing him to Neser, well you canât really say they got that wrong.
I just donât think he needed to storm off from the selectors and not talk to them and what not.
Anyway, letâs hope he goes well in Adelaide.
Fergus OâNeil the standout bowler so far in the England Lions 2nd innings.
Not that I think heâs in the frame for national duties yet.
Fergus OâNeill a Kiwi born player.
Marnus South African born. Neser South African born.
Inglis and Renshaw English born.
Thereâs a chance if things went a certain way that we could field a side worthy of an English XI!
We havenât heard from Neil Harvey for a while - supposed 97 year olds are not really looking to be going out on a limb with big opinions.
These guys just sum it up perfectly
Boycottâs summation is fairly scathing:
He should do an Essendon review
Not a bad listen but the gratuitous swearing undermines the show. Just the opinion of an old **** though ![]()
What was Steveâs V gesture to archer after the 6?
V for victory because he certainly wasnât playing in the V.
thereâs a real art to picking the right screencap isnât there
-edit- imagine being the recipient of one of the 3 or 4 times a year he looks someone in the eye
Coach McCullum bizarrely claims they over prepared for this test.
âWe had five intense training sessions leading into the game and thatâs something as a coach youâve got make sure youâre aware of. Sometimes thereâs a tendency to want to do overdo things to make up for it.â
He must be forgetting that they had 3 extra days after the Perth debacle in which to fit those 5 intense sessions in, some 12 days in all. Perhaps they needed those 3 extra days to forget about what happened in Perth, PTSD.
I think it would have a fair bit to do with how the selection transpired. I read that Lyon only found out about his omission 1 hour before the coin toss, which is far from ideal. Neser came in and did a great job, so no issues with how things worked out. I donât mind Lyon showing a bit of passion.
