The Cricket Thread (part 9) - from Dec 2024

This pair has to be the one to erase the chunk of the deficit.

It’s amazing how much our batters get squared up in defence.

He’s nearly 36. This notion that all of them
can bat well to nearly 40 Is ridiculous

You wonder how many of Khawaja and Smith will be here next summer against the poms. None, one or both.

Neither should be.

Khawaja has told CA and teammates that he plans to retire at the end of the Ashes but maybe it won’t be his call although I suspect he will one of the first picked for Sri Lanka.
Smith might call it himself this year

Copeland telling people how to bat…spare me.

Yay they’re smacking some balls

That would be what I’d want too. But it wouldn’t be the first time the selectors have allowed players to go longer than what most people think is ā€˜their time’ as some sort of reward for their contributions.

Marnus with back to back boundaries. Growing in confidence and stature.

Nice shots La Bus Change

What is the bradshaw bell?

I’ve been down near the boundary at mid wicket for the last 15 minutes and geez there is plenty of bounce in this deck. Batsmen almost look caught in two frames of mind

Who was the last good player that was either tapped on the shoulder or was dropped?

We let everyone go out when they want on their terms.

What’s the weather like? Telecast makes it look beautiful.

Named in honour of former SACA and MCC CEO Keith Bradshaw. An Adelaide local for the later part of his life who introduced the ringing of the bell 5 minutes before the start of play at Lords. When he passed away it became a tradition here and normally someone famous or influential gets the honour of ringing it to start the day

A touch warm in direct sun but a pearler of a day. High 20’s with a slight breeze and hardly a cloud in the sky
