Still 40+ overs to go for under 250 to win. If these two stay at the crease for another hour they could get that down to say 30 overs to get 200 and it’s game on

Agree, we have enough small forwards for now.

Not losing is a win for India

We’ve taken 3 wickets and we are into the 53rd over. If you want to save a Test, this is a pretty decent pitch to bat on. The ball is soft, still 27 overs after this until the 2nd new ball is available. Lyon has to rip a few out or we will have too much to do by the time we can take the new pill.

A washout in Sydney would give them the trophy, but it makes getting into the WTC Final very unlikely.

Predictably drops the first 4 balls short, almost bruises his toes at times.
Edit: Make that the entire over.

This is just ridiculous from Australia

I might be in the minority here but I think Lyon might be done

India escape that session without losing a wicket. The equation now is:

228 runs to win
38 overs remaining
7 wickets in hand

Australia chances of victory have been severely diminished.

How many more times do we need to see straya fail to bowl out a team on day 5 before CA gets the message that this attack needs spice in the pitch to get 20 wickets?

You got your 5 days of money though.

You’re not in the minority - I’d play Murphy in Sydney. It won’t happen but I’d do it, the team looks tired and many out of form

Test cricket is about 5 days and it has been absorbing stuff. Record crowd figures show you that.

India took 20 wickets, it’s only Aus who seem to be struggling to do that and that’s because our attack is lacking the right balance due to Marsh and Lyon not really offering much (at this stage).

I agree I would be making mass changes for Sydney at least bring in Webster for marsh and Morris or Richardson for Starc and Murphy for Lyon, But we all know it will be Boland for Hazelwood and that’s it

The only issue I have with that is Ashwin and Jadeja also averaging in the 50s this series.

So…if you’re going to replace him, I kind of need convincing that it should be for a spinner.

And they had to bowl in energy-sapping heat on the first day.

Also, was that Jhye Richardson bowling in the nets during the tea break? My goodness, he looks like he did his injury rehab at McDonald’s.

I also think more attacking captains would have declared with 45 mins to spare last night.
Ponting certainly would have.

I’ve been saying that since the Headingley test in 2019.
