It's a great catch...but is it a short-range reflex catch, or one where you've had to dive a fair distance and caught a hard-hit ball parallel to the ground..

Back in the 70s or so, many, many blinders were taken in the gully...Australian fans of a certain age will remember Ashley Mallett and Bruce Yardley. Victorians will remember John Swanson.
You don't see anywhere near as many blinders taken in the gully these days. Why not? Is it the bats? Style of stroke play?

It’s brutal stuff, England like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Cook’s shoulders of arms to a ball crashing into off says it all, he’s in a mess psychologically, as captain an opening bat there is little respite. Bell should be gone, Watto shelled a pud, but he just doesn’t look like he’s up for batting at three. If they can get KP or Bell soonish, with Ballance on debut next, it could get really ugly, really really ugly.
