The Great Blitz Movie Survey…Favourite Movies Across The Years - The 1970s

General Gibberish Forums The Pool Room

The Great Blitz Movie Survey continues.

Over the coming weeks I am looking to develop a comprehensive list of Blitzer’s favourite movies for each year from 1960 through to 2026.

I’ll break it down into threads by decades so you don’t have to spend ages on putting your favourites together.

I’m asking that you name your top five movies for each year…in order as your top movie will get five votes, 2nd favourite will get 4 votes, 3rd favourite will get 3 votes, 4th favourite will get 2 votes and 5th favourite will get 1 vote.

This is Part 2…The 1970s

If you missed Part 1…The 1960s, here is the link to that thread:

Year of release will be based on imdb release year.

Eg

1 - Fave Movie (5 votes)
2 - 2nd fave (4 votes)
3 - 3rd fave (3 votes)
4 -4th fave (2 votes)
5 - 5th fave (1 vote)

I’ll keep a tally and present the details later.

I’m aiming to keep voting open for a week or so, so get into it and have your say.

Format is simple:

Copy and paste the following data into your post…and then add the details

Yeah, I saw that listed on a search and couldn’t recall if I’d seen it.

Cheers mate.

Thanks for picking Serpico as I had somehow overlooked it (have now included it in my selections).

And I must admit, I did not pick you as a Grease fan

We watched it loads growing up. Seemed to always be on tv. One of those where the quotes find a place in the family vernacular.

It’s one of those really popular movies that I’ve never seen.

(same goes for The Godfather and Alien movies…haven’t watched any of them).

15

Really? Any plans to? Godfather and Alien movies, I mean.

Not really…I’ve had the godfather movies on my watchlist on Netflix for ages…but never seem to feel like watching a three hour movie.

And I’ve never had any interest in Alien (or Grease  ).

Richard Harris as Cromwell and the great Sir Alec Guinness as the slimy King Charles I is fantastic.

Waterloo is one of the great historic epic war movies way before CGI which used 17,000 costumed extras. Both Rod Steiger as Napoleon and Christopher Plummer as the Duke of Wellington give fantastic performance.

George C Scott is brilliant as the charismatic but controversial WW2 general.
