My son has a Pacifica and it’s a great playing guitar. If I’m completely honest with myself there’s not a huge difference between it and my USA Strat other than cost. Yamaha do make blinged out more expensive versions of the Pacifica too that touring artists use.

I read things like this and get cross at myself. I just cant shake the fender/gibson thing. I’ll happily deviate from the ‘classic’ line up of amps (love Friedman). I almost bought a Dunable guitar a coupla years back, but a 20 year old Les Paul came up for sale so I bought that instead (its a cracker).
Other than our heroes not playing them, what makes so many guitar players so resistant to ‘other brands’? Especially considering the dodgy practices and QC that’s dogged the main brands for so long.
Its probably just classic car syndrome in guitar form. When there’s a plethora of other far more faster and economical models available.
I’m the same, I like seeing a Fender or Gibson on the headstock. I’ve got no doubt that other brands make better versions of these guitars.

I have 36 guitars all up, been playing professionally for 32 years. I was always gibson, fender or gretsch.
However in tye last few years ive bought some high end Japanese stuff, a G&L and two heritage guitars.
The hype on the heritage h150 les paul guitars is real. Better than my gibson custom shops.
They are made in the old gibson factory in Kalamazoo by the old employees, some who had been there since the 50s

There are certainly brands making headway. Novo make some beautiful guitars. Suhr have a great reputation, amp wise aswell. I’d buy the Hombre amp in a heartbeat. PRS are certainly big players now (but i personally find a lot of their finishes a bit much). Good amps too.
The Hombre is great. I had one for a while . It still doesnt beat a cranked tweed deluxe or 62 princeton. And being the same price as the Stapleton princeton , id grab the Stapleton next time .
Love suhr guitars im looking for another now . A novo serus j would be a dream maybe I need to sell a few and grab one
Ive had a few prs from ce to wood library and they are all sterile no mojo

I love my Suhr plexi. Even sounds great at reasonably volumes with the master turned down. Will never part with it.

Oh man I love brownface amps. Fender have released two in the last 6 or 9 months. The Deluxe 62 (like the Hombre) and the 62 Super (2x10). Both with the harmonic tremolo. The deluxe 62 is actually not bad of a price. Pretty sure both are pcb though.
Would still have em. Maybe oneday.
Yeah something about prs doesn’t do it for me. Dunno what it is. Something very clinical about them.

The new 62 super is very sterile. The deluxe is great though. I have a Dr Z maz 38 2x12 as my main amp at the minute. Im getting older so its getting too heavy. A 62 deluxe or 57 tweed deluxe is my next buy. Ive got a tonemaster pro and fractal fm9 but its not the same
