The Music Quiz

13 is Faith No More. Making Enemies.

Took a while to work it out, but the quiz in totality gave me the music genre.

No idea on the others though. I suspect i’ll know em when its revealed though. I have most songs already answered.

Yes! That one was doing my head in. Have the album, love the song, still couldn’t get it though.

Only three to go:

  1. divide link amplify / spread the soul / rip it out / killing roses as they bloom

  2. Have you been to the cumberland Gap oh no / Fix your eyes on the green of the map oh no / Where the Appalachians rise oh no / Oh no

  3. Things haven’t been the same / Since you came into my life / You found a way to touch my soul / And I’m never, ever, ever gonna let it go

Nup … no clue on those.

I’m out.

Although the first one sounds vaguely Massive Attack.

18. Silverchair - Emotion sickness

Listening to this for the first time in a long time now.
So ridiculously under-rated.

Yes Wim, 100% agreed.

I felt very lucky to be post 30 when these guys came about, as I was immune at that point, to the tall poppy cut down syndrome (Nirvana in pyjamas etc) that is so prevalent in your teens/early twenties.

I had been writing songs for around 10 years at the time, & what Johns produced lyrically, & sonically at 14 years of age ( fking FOURTEEN) for the first album, was nothing short of amazing.

While the 2nd record was a bit of a let down to me, … (other than The Door, which is a great song to play live) the 3rd album was a ■■■■■■ masterpiece AFAIC.

And although some of it took a few listens to get into, I’ve liked everything he has done since …

…up until his latest effort at least … not my cuppa at all, the new one.

When you think that Abuse Me came from an 18 year old, and Frogstomp was recorded in 3 weeks by a 16 year old… it’s ridiculous.

And I completely agree re: Neon Ballroom. Amazing album.

Live, I think. The one where the bass goes bowoobadadum at the end of the line.

It is the bowoobadadum song…

Still drawing a blank on it tho…

And the lyrics go nothing like,

To live, and stuff
To flee, and burn
and slowly eat
a chocolate on a stick

I blah
I bler
I thing
I duh
I know
i know

Hey-ey-ey
And we won’t be scarred
etc.

Edit: I only have 3 Live songs on my iPod, but I know it isn’t one of Lightning Crashes, Dolphin’s Cry, or All Over You

  1. The Kids Aren’t Alright - The Offspring

edit: I also know number 1. Except I don’t. It’s either Stone Temple Pilots or Live I think…

■■■■ - Natalie Imbruglia
was a low point in her career.
