The named team vs the winless Crows - 2020 round 8

Nope. If we lose the Brisbane and giants matches, you want a full team in to play the Suns as that’s more winnable. Rather rest players for the Giants match.

BZT will get his opportunity next Friday night when we’ll need him matched up on The Big O. He’ll most likely stay in against Finlayson the next week, and King the week after.

Exactly.

Without BZT and Hooker we lack a key defender who can play on the really tall forwards.

The Big O will be playing ruck for Brisbane for 8wks while Martin is out.

Archie Smith will come in to cover

Yes of course we’d have no chance of beating the Giants, like last year !

That’s what I like to hear

Yeah Archie Smith will be the number 1 ruck and the Big O will still be the forward/ruck that he is currently.

Younger Ms Humble will be at the game. I’ll relay any inside information.

I am renown for having the best sauces.

You will hear it here first.

Whilst all countries are removing their statues we bring one in.

Hurls always has a great attitude. I’m loving having him as captain at the moment.

From the Ronny Lerner preview (which admittedly parrots the wrong stat for us versus last-place teams):

Essendon is ranked No.1 in the competition for tackle differentials while the Crows are dead last in that metric.

A good stat for us but hard to tackle us when we ain’t winning the contested ball

Paddy Ambrose says hi.

Ambrose last year did very well against Charlie Dixon one on one, but asking a 191cm Ambrose to play against the 2m+ key forwards is a really tough ask.

Adelaide expects to recall veteran Bryce Gibbs in coming weeks during the fixture squeeze

ADELAIDE will again leave Bryce Gibbs on the outer for this week’s clash with Essendon, but the Crows expect to call on the former Carlton star during the cramped upcoming fixture.

Gibbs was named in the Crows’ extended squad on Thursday night to face the Bombers but coach Matthew Nicks confirmed he will not make the final side.

R8 TEAMS Power off the Hoff, big man carnage

The Crows will manage Ned McHenry’s workload and rest him for Sunday’s clash at Adelaide Oval, with small forward Lachie Murphy to come in.

However Gibbs, who hasn’t played for the Crows since their round one loss to Sydney in March, won’t play. The 31-year-old’s contract with the club expires at the end of 2021.

“Bryce won’t play this week but he’s in the squad. Same as last week, he’s pushing for a spot,” Nicks said.

“There’s a fair bit coming in the next two or three weeks where there’s going to be some management that we haven’t seen before and, obviously, he’s sitting right in that spot at the moment and he’s going to help the group.”

Forward Darcy Fogarty is expected to be unavailable for at least another week as he recovers from his shoulder injury.

The under-siege Crows are chasing their first victory for the season, after getting within nine points of St Kilda midway through the last quarter of Monday’s game (the Saints ran away late with a 23-point win).

It was Adelaide’s 10th loss in a row and cemented it as the club’s worst start to a season in its history, but Nicks said he was seeing a shift in the Crows’ attitude and was confident a breakthrough win was coming soon.

THE LADDER Where is your team sitting?

“Behind the scenes and off-field, we’re making progress. There’s some really positive stuff going on, and there’s small wins we have off-field,” he said.

"Obviously we are in an industry where results are what we’re chasing. We’re not getting those results on the field at the moment. It’s frustrating for everyone but we’re sticking tight.

"We’re seeing some really strong growth off-field. There’s some positive stuff that we’re about to see break through. We’ve got some more players who are playing well in our practice matches who we’ll get a look at in the coming weeks with the challenging draw.

“Ultimately, we’re doing a lot of work, we’re not quite getting the reward at the moment, but I’m sure it won’t be far around the corner.”

It was my birthday yesterday, just farking win on Sunday!! Thnx

Happy Birthday!

Once again the team selectors have botched the team selection. OK Draper might need another week (can’t wait to see that guy out on the ground), but to bring in TBC isn’t going to work. By quarter time he’ll be hanging over the fence. They must play McKernan and Stewart if they have any intention of winning. We need some height on the ground or we’ll be smashed by a bigger Crows side. Like last week, the midgets v the giants
Very disappointing team selection. The Bombers will lose and head back to the Gold Coast for another thrashing against the surging Lions.
I’m sure most Blitzers would have more knowledge and nous than those clowns posing as team selectors.
