I think the chance now is zero. I dont think he would even get a gig at any club as a senior coach. If we hesitated because of lack of recent experience, then nobody else would go near him. I think the only role he would get easily in football now would be a football manager type development role. If he really does burn for essendon job, why would he not take any such offer from us righ now?
Even North, can you imagine them going from somone with Clarkson record straight to Hird? Not a chance in hell
You really think Hirdâs lack of so called experience is the reason he wasnât chosen? Look no further than the AFL which treats the club as a franchise.
Yeah I do, I think he could have done the job but I can see what pressure the club would have been under to make the call. Unfortunately the media does set the narratvie and once that was floating around out there , it would have been too hard for the club to select him
Itâs views like this that has me ecstatic we went away from Hird. This whole soap opera that comes hand in hand with Jim is something this club doesnât need.
Fact that Hird is now accepting he needs to do a proper AFL coaching lead in is illuminating. Even Hirdy accepts the industry has indicated to him he needs to get âmatch fitâ to coach at senior level again. Itâs now up to him to decide how much he wants to be a senior coach.
In all the interviews done by Spike, he seems to understand what the fark needs to be done. He didnât utter the words process, short term or long term. That is a very good start.
