Ewan wins stage 4 tour of Poland

Convincing win by Ewan. Gotta say that Mezgec does about 4 or 5 brilliant lead outs for Ewan each season.

My guess for the Vuelta team is

A.Yates
Chaves
Tuft
Hepburn
Haig
Plaza
Juul Jensen
Cort
Verona

Verona out for S.Yates if he rides.

Tuft and Hepburn for flat. JJ can do flat and mountains. Cort to sprint and provide utility. Verona, Haig and Plaza for mountains. And its a decent swuad for the TTT.

interesting move by Barguil - Limited team support which will cause him to lose the GC in the first stage TTT in the 2018 TDF.

But that would give him free reign to go stage hunting or KOM chasing.
If he stayed with SunWeb, he’d be Doumlin’s domestique in next year’s TdF with absolutely no ability to chase any of these things.

My understanding is Barguil left because he wants to ride for GC which is hard at Sunweb because he gets Dumoulin’s left over - Reckon its a shocking choice of teams.

Makes little sense for GC aspirations at a GT level.
Perhaps in 1 week tours it will work.
I suspect the money is pretty good though!

Van Poppel beats Mezgec in a straight up reduced sprint on stage 5 Tour of Poland

Good effort by Mezgec. He needs to be resigned by Orica.

Gallopin signs with AG2R
Terpstra to Lotto - Jumbo
Omar Fraile to Astana

Nieve confirmed to Orica for 2 years.

Team Binck Bank Tour

Hepburn
Cort
Keukeliere
Gerrans
Docker
Edmondson
Juul-Jensen
Kluge

This was a target race for Durrbridge but he is still recovering from an operation on his ankle - Seems like it could be another month. It’s a hot field in this race - Orica has different cards to play for GC and a stage victory.

Haig wins stage 6 of the Tour of Poland after a solo breakaway 20kms from the finish - Give him another 2 or 3 years and he could be an elite GC rider.

Quite happy with Power’s attack on stage 6 too.
Perhaps he’s starting to show something.

CN have the provisional OS team for the Vuelta as:

Sam Bewley (NZl)
Esteban Chaves (Col)
Jack Haig (Aus)
Mathew Hayman (Aus)
Christopher Juul Jensen (Den)
Svein Tuft (Can)
Carlos Verona (Spa)
Adam Yates (GBr)
Simon Yates (GBr)

Heppy and Kluge as reserves.
I can’t imagine why Hayman would be riding this?

Oh that’s why? Thought he might’ve finally got dumped.

Also yeah wasn’t Hayman a non event at TDF?

Hansen is a bit salty that he’s not riding so the injury seems like an excuse to drop him from the squad.
Hayman was invisible at the TdF and Vuelta would suit him even less.
