Orica must be a great chance to win the teams prize if they play their cards right.

That’s like getting a kiss from your sister.
I doubt it’s high on their priorities.

Lutsenko wins the stage from the breakaway - Froome attacked on the final climb and only Chaves, Contador and Woods could follow - Many of the GC riders shipped time. Chaves is now third 11 seconds behind Froome - I hint a bit of desperation in Sky’s tactics in the two uphill finishes - Guess they were hoping Froome would have a lead of 1+ minutes.

Sky was a bit disorganized at the base of the climb today.

Tejay as well.

Could be another day for the breakaway. Stage is notionally flat but this is the vuelta.

A sad situation.

Stage 6 of the Vuelta - For an unknown reason, Orica failed to put a rider in the 37 person breakaway - So that means they must help Sky at the front of the peleton - What a way to waste riders.

Marcynski of Lotto Soudal wins a sprint finish from the breakaway in an exciting but strange stage.

Started off with a break of 37 riders who never got more than 3 minutes on the peleton - Contador attacked the Sky Train halfway up a steep cat 2 climb which split the peleton - Chaves was in group of 6 around 200 metres from the summit and then somehow on the summit was 15 second ( apparently a rider fell and Chaves was unclipped ) The breakaway had around 1 minute with 36kms to go with half descending and half flattish - There was a group of 6 which included Froome, Contador, Van Garderen and Betancur - The descent caused problems with 2 of the breakaway crashing and then later Van garderen brought down Betancur - A.Yates and Haig as part of a larger group caught the Chaves group and brought them to the Contador group at the bottom of the descent - This group of around 20 riders caught the breakaway with around 13 kms to go - At this point there was no co-operation and three of the breakaway riders again slipped away from the peleton leaving a bemused Leon-Sanchez who sat up from the breakaway group when they were caught by the peleton - Orica had three riders in the GC group and could have drilled the group to possibly get the stage victory and bonus seconds, but instead rode meekly in the peleton - Somehow TJ got back on his bike and was in a group 35 seconds behind the GC group - He clipped off from the this group with about 5 km to go, then crashed on a roundabout with 2.5 km to go, but yet still only finished 20 seconds behind the GC group - It was a wild stage.

Jack Bobridge, Australian cycling champion, charged with drug dealing

Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallist Jack Bobridge has been charged with drug dealing as part of an ongoing operation targeting licensed venues in Perth.

Bobridge was arrested on Wednesday after police executed search warrants at his home in the northern suburb of Yokine, as well as a North Perth business.

“The investigation led detectives to charge the 28-year-old man with two counts of sell and supply a trafficable quantity of MDMA and three counts of sell and supply MDMA,” police said in a statement.

Bobridge later appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday to face six charges.

He was granted bail and is due to reappear in court next month.

Bobridge was forced to retire from cycling last year due to rheumatoid arthritis after appearing at three Olympic Games and winning two silver medals, including one in the men’s team pursuit in Rio last August.

At the time, he was the reigning Australian road race champion, having produced a stunning effort in Buninyong near Ballarat to win the national championship.

Bobridge also claimed three track world championship gold medals, four Commonwealth Games golds — including two in Glasgow in 2014 — and broke the individual pursuit world record in 2011.

Detectives in Perth said he had been charged as part of Operation Inception, an investigation targeting entertainment precincts in the city.

Ecstasy, cocaine, methylamphetamine and cannabis worth a total of about $1 million has been seized so far during the operation, with 61 people facing charges, police said.

“Significant resources have been put into the Perth entertainment precincts to ensure that we identify those people selling drugs,” Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Cox said.

"We will continue to target anyone that enters the entertainment precinct with drugs.

"We want these venues to be safe for all patrons and we encourage all community members, including those who work in the entertainment sector, to provide us with information about drug dealing.

“We do not want our young adults subject to brazen drug dealing in the entertainment precincts.”
