The Pro Cycling Thread

It’s the same as sporting events throughout the world.

Some could abandon with hypothermia today. It’s foul weather

Stage winner said the Simplon Pass was the worst (‘disgusting’ he said), only kept going with hot tea.

Almeida wins the MTF but can’t put time into Thomas.
Roglic and Dumbar 25 seconds down.
With two more mountain stages and a brutal MTT to come, it’s going to go down to the wire between Thomas, Almeida and Roglic.
Dunbar much more impressive than I expected.

Gerry Ryan sighted at today’s stage, a shame Bling edged out for third place.

That was almost a great heist.
Just pipped at the line by Dianese and Milan.

French fans getting salty because Zana got a sticky bottle or two. Pinot does this every stage, as every rider does, but do they complain then?

The Queen stage today, and it’s the “Cima Coppi” after stage 13 was modified.

Tre Cime, a classic Dolomite stage. There should be plenty of GC action.

I watched Romandie and the Frankfurt races and you could see that the Jayco riders were in form which has translated to the Giro. The changing UCI points system mean that points are extra valuable in Grand Tours.

Today for Jayco should be all about supporting Dunbar.

You would think so. There’s no value in getting the breakaway today, unless it’s to support Dunbar later in the stage.

Hepburn is having a shot?

Was up the road to help Dunbar, but he was having a bad day.

So it comes down to an 19km ITT with this brute at the end of it.
Minutes could be lost on this climb.

Bridie O’Donnell was talking to Chloe Hoskins on ABC sport this morning about the TDF femmes and comparing opportunities and financial incentives over the years. Hoskins said she turned down the $30k offered to her , went home to finish her law degree and is now practising in contract and entertainment law fields.
Hoskins considered that, with so many races in Spain and elsewhere ATM, they are having to look further than the Dutch pool to make up the team numbers.

Wow.

Penny for Roglic’s thoughts at the mechanical failure, during a hill time trial for the GC win, and at the end!
