HARper and Dunbar to Q36.5. ZAna to Ineos. Ben will be lonely as there are 3 climbers in one fell swoop. I can not remember a team losing four GT stage winners in one period.Jayco gave Zana and Harper contract offers, while, Dunbar who wanted to stay was asked to wait.

Jayco will need to be smart in the rest of the transfer period. I KNOW that Berhe, Stewart and Hellmose, so they need to replace 8 riders. My first thought is to bring in Aaron Gate. The team has money in the budget.

Edit. THE team should be trying Jay Vine who is desperate to ride the TDF.

The only one I know that switched from Dutch to French is Unibet (Rockets).

Got it.

The women’s team sign junior Scottish rider Erin Boothman. Conti team 2026 and WT team 27 and 28. has a good palmares and she is quick. Will add there have been a number of junior talents come out of the UK junior ranks in the last 2 or 3 years. Its probably a good signing because Aussie riders seem to lack interest in joining Jayco.

FFS, they lead with “is there any other sport more affected by wind than cycling?”

Yes.

Yes, there is.

I have heard you can’t chuck down wind

Well, you can, but your return will be sub-optimal unless you tuned it for that explicitly.

And if you did, you will be more of a pariah than left-handers, as all the people on the lines judging distance will need to move even further whenever it’s your turn.

Well… that was a different type of intermediate sprint king-of-the-mountain 1 point win.

O’Connor screwed by another rider falling into his path with just over 3km to go. But alternate 5km rule saves him. Doesn’t seem to be too hurt despite his impressive flip.

Philipsen comfortably wins the bunch sprint.

A bunch of possible GC candidates have lost 38 seconds on a day one flat course…

Challenging stage with a punchy finish coming up.

Sets up beautifully for MVDP.
I expect a few GC riders will lose time on that 1km 10% climb wit 10km to go.
O’Connor being banged up, will be probably one of them.

Groenewegen was disappointing and should have made that first split when you consider his lead out rider Mezgec bridged across to the split. We will have to see O’Connor goes today after his crash. Thought there would be more riders in the stage 2 break. This is a stage for MVDP.

Interesting that Ewan is on the SBS coverage and Bling is on the TNT coverage. And Matt white will be on the TNT coverage in week three.

MVDP beats Pogi and Jonas.
O’Connor drops 31 seconds, and that was not surprising.

Looks like Remco is off to RB-Bora

@yaco55 Any chance Jayco have a crack at getting Hindley? If Remco does go to RB, Hindley’s opportunities there will be rather scarce.

For unknown reasons, Jayco have never rated Hindley from his under 23 days and Hindley has never expressed strong interest in Jayco. Vine has a desire to do the TDF which will not happen at UAE. Buy him out of his contract. It appears that Jayco will sign the Italian RR champion Conca.

Question. Why is Ewan on the Aussie coverage and Bling on the European coverage of the TDF.

Edit. O’CONNOR is very sore after his crash in stage one. Its a matter of how well he recovers. His best mate Lantern Rouge will know more.

Merlier beats Milan in a messy finish.
Coquard took out Philipsen at the intermediate sprint, and then crashed himself with 200m to go.

Reinders in good position but Mezgec got lost in the final, so Groenewegen was out of position. Not helped by a crash just behind him at 3kms to go and then a crash in front of him with 300m to go. Life is simple, you follow Merliets wheel in the final as he is another Sagan in messy finishes. Plapp needs to go for the ITT especially with Remcos crash.

Listened to Ewan discussing Jaycos squad fir the TDF. His opinion is they should only have one leader. No wonder he was left off the 2018 TDF team.
