And the men’s result.
Plapp lost time at each intermediate. Not sure if he was ill or just not going for it this year.
That was a super result by Wilson-haffenden who should be on Jayco’s radar for 2027. I believe that Plapp is suffering from illness and may be limited in the RR.
I posted at the time of his announced transfer to Visma that I was interested in how well he would adapt to a completely different training and preperation system. It can be no coincidence that Van baarle left the team because he could not adapt to the system. Anyway, Simon got a Giro win out of his adventure at Visma.
Apparently he found out that Vine was all in for the ITT and didn’t think he had a show in beating him.
We will see tomorrow how Plapp performs as Vine was all in for the ITT in 2025 and Plapp beat him. You may as well stop racing if you are concerned that your competitors are well prepared.
Beast of a performance by Medway in the under 23 RR. He’s very talented and should do well in Europe this year.
Coupland of Liv Alula wins the elite and under 23 RR at the Nats from Roseman-Gannon and Bradbury. A perfectly executed race from Liv Alula.
A very impressive ride from Coupland.
Actually the most impressive ride was from Emily Dixon. Will watch the mens and then go to the airport to fly to oz.
Jayco’s flawed tactical strategy in the final will be hard to beat in 2026. Major surprise to see Eddy win on this course.
That was a monumental ****-up.
My biggest worry is that Jayco set the race up for O’connor, who was in a winning position and blew up which does not augur well for his 2026 season. Then you add Jayco will struggle to win a stage at the TDU, while GC will be hard and Cadel’s is always a crap shoot. Anyway off to the airport.
Drove over stage one and two of the womens TDU. reckon first stage will be a team
Drove over stage one and two of the womens TDU. Reckon stage one will be a field sprint, while stage 2 a reduced sprint. Tomorrow will check out the Tanunda stage which is in the men’s edition and in the womens one day race on 21 Jan and then will attend the team presentation.
Plapp missed his Stanley Street Podcast gig on Monday with Keenan taking his place. Imagine he is back at his farm and will travel to Adelaide on Sunday.
Diabolical stage 1 for Jayco at the Womens TDU.
Amber Pate was a DNS, and then with 2 km to go RRG and another Jayco rider went down.
The second rider was Baker their second sprinter. Jayco managed to lose two riders in Smulders and Pate in training crashes. Anyway, Woolaston was super impressive and can win stage 2.
Men’s team have riders at the Spanish one day races. Count riders at TDU and the Alula then just about everyone will have started their season.
Looking at the wider picture, Jayco needs to bring more overseas riders to the TDU. Zana and Garcia were interviewed at the Team Presentation and bemoaned the fact they couldn’t get a start at the TDU when at Jayco.
Georgia Baker was a DNS today.
Chatted to Sophie Edwards dad at the finish line at paracombe as he was writing her name on the road. We discussed how silly Jayco are at not bringing 2 or 3 overseas riders to the Aussie summer.
BAKER and Pate are out with concussion. They can ride the two one day races with Conti team riders but not Cadels.
like Mavi Garcia for tomorrow’s stage.
One thing to add is its been a joy to drive and park around Adelaide with nary a parking sight in sight.
UAE made a tactical mistake on the descent after the first time up Corkscrew. It should have been Garcia attacking on the descent to get a gap for the final climb. Give her 30 or 40 seconds next time up Corkstew and she would not get caught. Will add this is another failure by Jayco because Mavi wanted to ride the TDU for the last two years.
Watson wins the prologue from Vernon and Pithie. First 30 riders and last 10 riders got the best of the conditions. Think Vernon can grab the Ochre jersey tomorrow.
