The Professional Cycling Thread (from July 2024)

Got information that this was a possibility. Should be a good addition to the team. Plapp wins the Tour of Bright after dominating the ITT. 19 year old Ward very impressive.

Was Ward the guy who won the Tawonga and Buffalo stages?

Yes. he went head to head with Plapp in stage one while in stage three he won a reduced sprint finish. He has no contract for 2025 but should find a development team or ride the amateurs in Europe.

Remco injured in a training crash. Hit by a swinging door from a postal van in Belgium. Damage to his wrist and shoulder.

All Ineos need to do is get bernal off their books and they will have a 6 or 7 million warchest to get a Remco type rider.

Anyway, Pidcock is a talented rider, however, he is massively overpaid compared to his overall performance. I am interested in whether Q 36.5 will get an invite to the Giro or the Vuelta in 2025.

I believe there will be 2 or 3 overseas riders in the Jayco squad for the TDU. And one will be a leader.

Gigante out for 6 months with the iliac surgery. She made giant strides in 2024 and if she could fix technical parts of her cycling, she could be at the pointy end of more races.

I saw some cryptic posts on her last strava ride and wondered what that was all about.

Jayco team for road nationals.

Men are Plapp, Hepburn, Durbridge. Harper and OBrien.

Women are Baker. Talbot, Pate and Roseman Gannon.

That men’s team doesn’t strike me as one that expects a sprint finish.

Jayco only hss 8 aussies on the mens team. Bling and O’Connor are in Europe and Ewan is AWOL. The mens team needs a strong Harper or Plapp to break up the field or Welsford will win the sprint. On the other hand, the womens tean need a sprint for Baker. FINALLY, Dunbar will be the leader for the Alula Tour.

Gosh, I might grow to like Evenepoel and his team now.

It does not mean he will be automatically extended if a better rider comes along or Bling shows no form. 2024 was such a wasted year for Bling. And the Ewan saga continues!

Think you will find that that four of the five Jayco riders will ride the TDU. You add Groenewegen and Stewart and one other rider. Finally, its a make or break year for O’Brien. he needs to decide if he wants to be a classics rider or part of a sprint train

Haegens Berman are now officially jayco’s feeder team which means riders can switch between the two teams. Reckon 2024 was haegen’s worst ever season, yet, they got two riders into the WT.

I have no idea how he forged such a long career in the WT. He was a PCT level rider.

Probably GreenEdge’s best looking kit for a long time.

Looks good. I know nothing about cycling apparel, so didn’t know maap was an Aus brand!
