All that “hard-working, blue-collar man of the people” crap has never washed with me… His music has generally bored me to tears.
I loved it when Frankie Goes To Hollywood did Born To Run and all the Broooooce-ites at school freaked out, considering it so completely sacreligious…
No, just not my cup of tea at all, and the man has always been way too supportive of saxophones to be trusted…

This one doesn’t actually stand out on the album, but live it’s a friggin’ cracker.
Not a fan of his River era stuff, but Nebraska/USA, hell yes.

The Boss is ok. Done some decent stuff, done some stuff that doesn’t resonate with me. Meh.
And yet most of his music is way, way better than that Wombat sh*t you played the other day.

yes I enjoyed that. You almost got a double no for the faux blue collar guy that seems to need 30 other actual blue collar guys to do his job; makes him middle management, with all of the upper management record company stooges pulling the strings.
It’s not personal @bomber_girl I’m just an anti corporate rock pro indy kind of guy (who also likes ABBA, ELO and Boz Scaggs)

I have great respect for your musical knowledge wim so I will give that a proper listen. I really struggle with his voice, just as I do with Tim Rogers and that Something for Kate guy.
There’s not much I can do about you not liking his voice, but if your main complaint is that Springsteen is corporate rock…this is the album immediately preceding USA.
No E Street Band, and it’s basically a demo.

Yep, good call by you. I thought it was a decent tune played with heart, the best Springsteen I have heard. I take it that’s him on guitar? He seems to go OK when he doesn’t try too hard.
I’m pretty sure it’s all him.
I think he recorded it to tape (cassette) or something?
The whole album is good, if a little bleak.

I’ll check out the album. Bleak is up my alley; guys like Leonard Cohen and Robert Smith are considered by many to be depressing but I find their music comforting.
