BTW I just received my belated birthday present after it got lost in the mail for about a month. Digital interface for my PC with some recording software. For the first time in about 20 years I’ll be able to do some decent direct to disk recordings and make use of some of my old anaolg kit too. Get ready for those long awaited punk meets synth songs Bakes.

What interface and software are you running with?

I haven’t set it up yet but it’s just a basic Focusrite 2i2 thingy, my boy doesn’t have that much money. 2 channels but I’ll run a desk into it. Avid and Ableton Lite but I’ve got some other stuff already e.g. Korg digi synths and various effects that I should be able to incorporate.
Seems decent enough quality and should do what I want for now. It’s been a long time so there’s plenty to keep me occupied. We’ll make some recordings together and see how it goes.

It’s a good compact little unit - a friend has one. I use Logic Pro as my DAW. I was fortunate enough to win an 8-channel Presonus Audiobox USB on EBay a couple of years ago for a steal (turned out the seller lived just around the corner from me, so I saved on postage too). It’s great if you want to quickly capture a 3 or 4 man jam session. It’s also been fantastic for transferring old recordings from my Tascam 488 cassette Portastudio. The 488 only has 6 outs, so you have to do it in a minimum of two passes, then stitch them back together (which is awkward but, with modern technology, possible).
Normally though for recording my own stuff I use with my original 2-channel Audiobox USB and a cheap, poxy 25-key keyboard (which you can make sound like a guitar/bass/drum/whatever just as easily as a $5000 keyboard…)
