Anyway, I’ve submitted my Repechage song. For the second time, after not reading the rules the first time.
I am concerned about my “real instruments” though. Is this a Dylan went electric thing? Or a “the piano is not a real instrument, as it’s only 200 years old and way younger than Swoods.” thing…
I have to confess, the real instrument thing is throwing me.
Is a bottle a real instrument?
Edit: not a trio, obviously, but I was wondering if the smashed flourescent light in Power and the Passion disqualifies it.
And then I remembered that it absolutely uses a drum machine…
It’s impossible to define. Fairlight a digital sampler, not real. Yamaha organ an additive sound wave generator, real like a Moog? Electric piano is an amplified piano so real just like an electric guitar. And my Yamaha SY22 blends samples and additive synth with a vector controller that can move between the 4 sound sources plus modulators.
If you lot spent as much time just picking a song as you do picking over the minutiae of stuff, you’d make it so much easier for yourselves.
Like really, how farken hard is it to find a song by a three piece band that has vocals and real instruments?
Any of you that have been around here for any length of time know my hatred of modern farken computer based crap that gets called music and most of you know more about farken real instruments than I do.
Just pick a damn song, submit it and you should know whether or not it will meet the criteria!!!
To be fair…just kind of passing the time while waiting for Davo.
Wasn’t having a go, just the time made me get all philosophical.
And I did spend some time on this round. I had to. Because apart from Gangnam Style, Monkey Magic, and Battle Without Honour…maybe a handful more that I’d never consider playing, I don’t Know any Asian music.
Actually…I do know some Indian stuff, but that’s not BDJ material.
