Ok (deep breath)

Social Distortion are basically Powderfinger. Loved in one region, and no one else in the world gives a ■■■■. You hear a song that’s recommended, and think “oh, ok there must be another one that’s good”. But the next one’s not good either. Nor the next.

Then you realise that all the songs sound the same. They’ve been basically writing the same song for over 4 decades. If you or I tried to write songs for 4 decades we’d hit on something good every now and then. Even just by fluke. Nope. Not one memorable hook in over 40 years. That’s an amazing feat.

(I thought Peos chose it.)

Thanks @hambo for running things… loose and fancy free as we would expect. Anyone who has done it knows it is both a lot of fun and unexpectedly stressful.

I was in singapore more than a decade ago. Recently divorced and tearing it up. Dinosaur Jr were touring. I bought tickets for this super cool girl i was keen on.

‘On stage at 8pm’ the tickets said. We went to a bar beforehand for a drink or 2. Support act, inevitable delays… standard gig… we walked in around 9.10pm…

‘Thank you and goodnight!’ … we missed everything except for 3 strums of a ■■■■■■■ guitar… singapore a different world… still yet to see them live

I never rated the winning song because I once saw them before this song came out and they were so stupidly loud that you couldn’t make out any kind of subtlety. I wrote them off and paid no attention for many years but have come to like the song.
