The Reigning Dj King (Mk XVI) is…@swoodley...just doing his thing

Tough set to pick, and if I went back on a different day or in a different mood there would likely be other tracks…

5 - Pink Floyd - Set The Controls To The Heart Of The Sun
(Well blow me down, a PF song that I actually thoroughly enjoyed)

4 - Les Claypool - One Better
(This was my front runner for submission till a last minute change of heart, so had to give it a good serve of votes)

3 - Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way
(I’ll never not enjoy hearing this)

2 - Aaron Grooves - Stranger Aarons
(Clip got it done, but I so wanted those drums to pound like a hip hop track)

1 - Frente - Labour of Love
(It just sat nicely in the set, and stood out as so bare bones)

The three note squawk at 2:15 on the Sorcerers track might be a recorder…? The rest definitely flute. Its in a different place in the mix from the rest of the flutes.

Pointless trivia #1:
The “xylophone” on Love My Way was played by producer Todd Rundgren, initially against the will of the band. You can hear a few duff notes where he has hit two bars simultaneously by mistake. Other Rundgren produced bands have noted his fantastic producing/arranging skills, but his sloppy playing where his “near enough is good enough” takes make it through to the final mix (in stark contrast to perfection standards he demands from the acts he’s producing…)

Pointless trivia #2:
Thom Yorke really was submerged in a tank of water in the No Surprises clip. His blink at 2’48" was the cue for the water to be released, but a technical hitch meant it remained full for another 5 seconds. His gasping and look of pained annoyance was genuine. The price you pay for art, eh?

You should try that Beatles song “under the influence”. It’s a go to when everything gets a bit too much.

I think theres an excellent argument to be made that 75% of the time the worst song on every beatle album was written by McCartney…this is one of those times for me.

Not sure. @hambo ?

It’s a longstanding rule; no retractions. How would the guy losing out in this scenario feel?

Salty tears for the Les DJ it is then. My apologies.

You’re the boss hambo, you can make the rules up as you see fit and make the adjustment if you wanted to.

But you don’t, which tells me that it would be your song getting shafted

Nah, my song is well shafted already

When have the rules ever followed around here?

There is a long history of making it up as you go. It’s what the thread was built on.

Well that and the eternal suffering of rejection and wallowing in self pity.

WTF…as the organiser, you don’t get to vote.
