Yep
Apology songs wouldn’t be a bad genre to build a set around.
My first recording experiences were using a portable Sony 2-track reel-to-reel and an old HMV AM radio that my Dad had. Had to plonk the Sony’s microphone in front of the radio’s speaker, listen to 3XY, wait for a song you wanted, then press record (all the while ensuring there was complete and utter room silence during the duration of the recording). The number of recordings I had to erase due to being interrupted by a parent…
After that, vinyl and cassettes were a godsend!!!
Ha, I did this in January when I was back at my mum’s. Unfortunately all tapes with demos, interviews and whatnot I was part of had all vanished, likely thrown out. Found some cool 90s mixed tapes though.
Now that I think of it, it was a Sanyo reel-to-reel, not Sony.
Anyhow… the song? Never could get into Roland’s voice. However, I like the groove that the other two conjured up regularly in FYC (and in The Beat before that…), so Yes.
