The Team v Fark North 2.0

WTF is the point of naming Giles emergency?

The ONLY minds we’re farking with are our own players!

Unless SMACK injures himself in the warm up, in which case it turns out to be quite a prudent move. The whole point of emergencies is that in the case of an emergency one of them can play. Something happening to one of our talls on gameday would be an emergency and Giles would come in.

Then why hasnt Giles been named as emergency in previous weeks if that is the logic?

He was last week

And the week before that? And the one before that?

Am sure you understand the point I’m making.
Surely even an ‘out of form’ Giles would have been a better bet than Ambrose or Carlisle playing in the ruck?
If the answer to that is well … not necessarily… then why the fark did we recruit him?
What does that say about those that made that recruiting decision?

Bewildering.

I can’t disagree with any of that. Nor can I provide any meaningful answers…

Something to think about. The VFL side, the reserves, need a ruckman, hence why people like McKernan and Giles are recruited. The fact that they are needed as back-up occasionally is there good luck. I think, from reading these posts that question the Club’s recruiting policies, I get the sense that the point I have just made has been overlooked and should not be.

I would have thought that the coaching staff have weighed up the decision of selection of Giles on either:

1/Winning the ruck taps/but havingno impact around the ground
2/Lose ruck taps/shark opposition taps, but have mobile ruckman impacting around the ground.

Clearly they would have stats/evidence to support their decision.
And coupled with the fact that, as some suggested, Giles didn’t meet certain fitness K.P.I’s in preseason- it makes sense.

The part that I don’t get is, if they’re basing the decision on such evidence, wouldn’t they have already known this from his performances at GWS?

What could have possibly changed between calling out his name at trade time and now?

Smells fishy…

One of three things, he's either not up to it, he's injured or he's being punished for (?)

Didn’t he come to us rather than Adelaide coz he was led to believe there would be more opportunity? Perhaps if there was ■■■■ all opportunity at Adelaide there’s still stuff all opportunity at EFC.

team differences since last time we played them are:

Out: Watson, Dempsey, Melksham, Colyer, Bellchambers, Fletcher

In: Laverde, Zaharakis, Gwilt, Steinberg, Edwards, O’brien

Giles has been in terrible form in the VFL, he was comprehensively beaten by a an opposition ruckman in his last VFL game, is there really any point bringing him in against the competition’s ruckman when he is unlikely to do any better than smack in the ruck?

Personally I think we’re much better off continuing to play kids and at least ambrose offers a more mobile tackling presence if nothing else. Giles is not up to AFL standard on current form

Here is his 2012 season. 7 Brownlow votes?.(More than Bellchambers, Ryder and Hille combined Brownlow votes in 2013 and they played in a winning side?)

I love a good tanty.

I turned up late to the Stkilda game and was so internally full of rage to see that the game was over 5 minutes into the second quarter that I needed to let something out.

The Essendon crowd I saw before me had the demeanor of Reek from Game of Thrones.

This won’t do. Some passion was needed. I bellowed at a blatant turnover “■■■■ off Cooney, get off the ground”.

My brother nudged me “that was Hurley”.

“Oh, well. Well Cooney, you can ■■■■ off anyway”.

Was a tad embarrassing.

Soooo… passion to you means yelling abuse at our players???

Dislike.

2012

Pretty much sums it up??

The bloke might be sh*thouse but here is how it went up until Mummy muscled him out the GWS team.

Not worth a single game for Essendon in a year when we lost Ryder and had TBC playing the worst footy of his career?.

Why would you recruit him then.

I’ve just been assuming for some time that he’s done something off-field that has seen his card marked. That’s the only reasoning I could make of the decisions not to play him. I’ve seen 4 of his VFL games & while I wouldn’t suggest he’s knocked down the door, his form has certainly suggested he can compete at senior level. When we are giving games to Steinberg who IMHO is a poor mans Zantuck, there must be room to play Giles. He should be splitting 50/50 with Smack as ruck/forward. Having Joe D & before him Carlise in the ruck is counterproductive & Ambrose is nowhere near capable of any meaningful contest. I’d really like to see us have the opportunity to give significant time forward to Smack particularly if internally we believe there’s a good chance Carlisle will leave. I fear we may end up being forced to play Giles but only once we burnt out Smack.

Clearly Giles has done something to ■■■■ the coaches off, either he is in poor physical shape or his attitude is poor or their has been an incident. He was recruited for just this purpose and he is not getting a gig, something’s up, his form isn’t that bad. This is the same coach that was happy to play 3 rucks in 2013 and now we are only playing .5.

Chapman is injured. Giles isn't.
ffs give Giles a go Expect him to be selected from emg and come in else will go Devo Need 2 Ruck s to counteract Goldstein in career form Not picking Giles this week smacks of NFI Giles will provide a contest and kick goals allowing smack to dominate at chf ambrose has nfi as a ruckman and not much chop as a fwd either who doesn't kick goal expect him to make way this week allowing hooksy to go back win:win:win all round Apart from that like Langford laverde Edwards and team spark excitement youth play the kids get something from 2015!!! Momentum

Yes, but…who are you talking to??

Giles hasn't been nearly as bad as many have made out.

■■■■■■ hell. Well if his AFL performance is as good as Gwilts, in comparison to the way you’ve reported Gwilts form in the VFL. Then that would make Giles brownlow material if we would just play him.

Sorry late to thread, has anyone mentioned the continued Giles omission yet? Might be worth discussing…

On your part, yes.
But then we knew that already.

Why must we belittle each other.

Why must we belittle each other.

Why must some belittle the clubs selection committee… Week in week out???
