Was Dempsey left out because he’s still injured?? Hepp on the bench is interesting. Hopefully not a late change.

We all know Carlisle will play fwd, Hurls back. Gleeson or Howlett will start as subs.

Excited to see Melksham in the 18, hoping he can have a ripper game leading to a consistent season.

Interesting that no Giles, unless it’s a late inclusion. very odd.

No Edwards :frowning:

Weather?

Giles isn’t even on the emg list so he won’t be coming in.

Sydney have Pyke as their ruckman with Reid and Tippett pinch-hitting.

We have Belly as main, then Joe/JakeC/Ambrose who can chip in too. No problem.

putting a player in a position, and them being that positional player is a totally different story.

You’re pretty much giving Sydney any ruck constest when Belly isn’t in the ruck, which considering Sydney like to bottle it up so much, is a very big risk to take.

Not the same thing.
Anyone in the 22 is interchangeable, pretty much anyone can come in from the emergencies, but we have to pay a fine to bring in someone outside the emergencies.

If Belly fell over between now and Saturday, maybe (very rare but not unprecedented) we pay the fine, but nobody else.

I’d happily back Joe or Jake over Tippett or Reid in the ruck. Tippett is nowhere near as good as he should be for his size.

That Sydney back line looks pretty average in my opinion.

That forward line looks huge! And our number of versatile big blokes must be the best in the league.

What about when Pyke isn’t in the ruck? They’re looking thin in that department too.

Pyke is pox but he’s miles and miles ahead of anyone else they’ve got (Naismith then, umm, Sam Reid).

Sydney’s depth has taken a big big hit without COLA, with money tied up on the galactic is forward line and no trading.

Backline is pretty much their standard backline WD, has got them to a flag and a losing GF the past 3 years.

Overall pretty happy with the team. Looks experienced & battle hardened.
Would have been nice to see Langford debut. But we get to see cooney debut in red and black colours. And it would be easier for kyles family to come if he debuted in Victoria next week.

Think heppell might be a late out for ashby

Team looks very very good on paper.

The big question mark is on their “touch” and if playing no pre-season games will effect their skills.

great team but could do with a bit more pace if we are going to match it with the big boys.

Anyone who thinks Heppell is a chance for a late out is kidding themselves.

0% chance of him missing the game.

Maybe I’m reading too much into him being named on the bench.

Great side. Stick with the blokes who know how to play together. Solid bodies.

Need the mature bodies against the best defensive side in the comp. Also need to get the games into our big players, the kids will get a run once we get some injuries.

Drive out of backline will be down. Malceski is gone. Midfield will be a bit down with McVeigh out
