The Tennis Thread - from Jan 2020 (Part 2)

Sinner probably has better lawyers than most.

As for the ITF and all the sponsors, private sector around the world .
Weā€™ve seen this with the winter sports, which are also big money in Northern Europe, US and Canada.
China and Russia are the only bad ones.

I have a soft spot for Sinner. Iā€™m happy he hasnā€™t been rubbed out for a long time.

I donā€™t get into the politics of it, I just think itā€™s incredibly sad. Heā€™s the best player in the game and heā€™s set to carry the torch for his sport for the next decade, yet now because of all of this (stemming from a damn physio cream) many will only ever associate him with ā€œcheatingā€ which casts such negativity over everything.

I donā€™t for one second think this is a guy who had any intention to deceive nor would it have had any material enhancement to his performance as a tennis player.

Heā€™s a filthy cheat.

Not to overlook Shayna Jack in comparable circumstances, with limited international events and less prize money.

This is how I feel too.

Lance Armstrongā€™s first positive test was caused by this masseur.
Just saying

I truly donā€™t care if heā€™s guilty or not, I care about the inconsistency of their decisions. If this is the new road they are going down our players should be exonerated and apologise to.

I couldnā€™t care less what you cop or donā€™t cop. Iā€™m stating how I feel.

Novak would feel the wrath of the public more for sure. No doubt about about that.

The frustration i have is the Essendon players werent afforded the same wada settlement they too are inocent like Sinner.

Players didnt have any intentions to cheat and was proven the crap they were injected with wasnt a banned sunstance by returning negative tests.

Also players didnt get any performance benefits infact it was the opposite they copped soft tissue injuries instead.

The whole thing shows how corrupt and embrassing the wada organisation is by giving Sinner a slap on the wrist

No doubt about that. Useless organisation

Wada appealed for a 1-2 year ban and in the end agreed to a settlement and only give him 3 months abouslute joke organisation

Sinner tested postive last year in March.he would have been using the cream during the AO they should strip him of last years AO trophy at least

If the AFL had any intelligence they would invistigate wada and get the players exonarted

For me this is similar to the Robert Stannard case in cycling. He was busted for anomalies in his Athlete Biological passport and the UCI Anti-Doping Tribunal gave him a four year suspension backdated 3 1/2 years, so in affect he received a 10 month suspension. It appears obvious that the UCI were not confident of their case if Stannard took it to CAS, so then agreed on a penalty to keep both sides happy. I think the Sinner case bears a striking similarity.

See the age world records being set by Aussies in the last 6 months. Nary a flicker of suspicion because the athletes come from a ā€˜goodā€™ country.

They donā€™t, we know that.

But itā€™s beside the point. Itā€™s a decade ago. The AFL has moved on, Essendon has moved on.

Even if they thought they may be able to clear the players, they arenā€™t going to start digging up old bodies to do it.

Does that explain the initial offer by ASADA of 3 months in off season to players that Cronulla took and Essendon players rejected, may have been 6 months for Essendon.
