Saving for retirement is pointless thanks to the impending “supersonic tsunami” of AI and robotics, which will bring about a world of zero scarcity, according to Elon Musk.
While the Tesla and SpaceX CEO admitted he’s “more optimistic” than most, he insisted people shouldn’t stress over building a nest egg for the distant future, contrary to the staid advice of nearly all other financial professionals.
“Don’t worry about squirreling money away for retirement in 10 or 20 years,” said the world’s richest man on the Moonshots with Peter Diamandis podcast last week. “It won’t matter.”

And then he promptly gave 99% of his money to various aid agencies and charities and food networks for starving people across the globe, and lived better than 99% of the world’s population on the 1% he had left.

I’m sure all those billionaire buddies of his will be shedding their wealth after reading that.
Oh wait, they’re all too busy making sure that the majority of people won’t earn enough to worry about having a nest egg.

He does, purely as a concept. This enabled him to co-opt and trumpet the concept of “suicidal empathy”. Which, like a basement incel, he liked because it sounded cool, it spoke to the possibility of mass death of people not like him and subsequent spawning/respawning of a superior human version, and pretends to an intellectualism he does not possess. And then he wielded an actual chainsaw on stage and proceeded to indirectly kill lots of people reliant on USAID.
Looks like he has conceded living on Mars won’t work so he’s pivoted to the Moon. I was really hoping he got in a rocket and ■■■■■■ off to Mars forever

Maybe off by a decade or three but possibly not wrong.
We’re on the precipice of those who control the wealth also controlling the means (and resources) of production. Then none of that money matters, everyone else is scrabbling for scraps.
Can’t wait to have to pay a subscription fee for my robot.

coming in 10, wait 15 actually 20 years but actually it’s not a self-growing city because there still has to be a safety officer for the time being and turns out it’s not actually a city it’s a caravan park that you have to pay $99 a month for and if you try and sell your caravan to a third party you get ejected into deep space
