I don’t think anyone will be shocked by my vote.
Nothing against Spandau Ballet, but they were done by Parade, really.
DD are still going and Danse Macabre is a great track released only a couple of years ago.

I think SB’s early stuff is underrated, To Cut A Long Story Short, Chant No. 1 etc.
Still DD easily, though.

Duran Duran peaked on their debut album…Rio was ok…and just about everything after that was average at best.

Parade (side 1) was brilliant…but that was the end for them.

I remember seeing the clip of “To Cut A Long Story Short” on Countdown and I was blown away.

After the previous few years of punk, the New Romantic movement was a burst of sunshine after years of dreary, rainy days (metaphorically speaking :wink: ).

All of a sudden it was ok to wear nice clothes again.

And some pretty good music came out of that movement in it’s first few years.

I’m certainly not going to argue against Rio being their best album. I can’t be having with the Reflex, New Moon On Monday, Wild Boys, View To A Kill, Ordinary World, or even (Reach Up For The) Sunrise being ordinary.

I like SB, though. Truly. Still play Gold and Long Story.
I have a soft spot for Round and Round which it probably doesn’t deserve.

Spandau for mine because Set Adrift on Memory Bliss from PM Dawn is deeply embedded in the period of my youth where I was focused almost solely on undertaking certain biological activities with the ladies.

It still holds up on a coitus playlist.

Personally, I think Ordinary World is better than any of Duran Duran’s 80’s stuff, which I liked.
