Victoria belted yesterday with similar reminds me of those recent utterly devastating bushfires.
My old man as a volunteer in Gippsland many years ago nearly got caught in one near our cattle farm at the time… reverted to his army instincts, dug a foxhole and covered up with earth and a wet hessian sack as the fire reversed 180° and went over him.
Reading this thread as an expat reminds me how hot and confronting the country can be.

That’s quite a drop.
The southerly buster has some teeth! Every window in the house is open after the last three days of curtains and blinds drawn and the aircon on when it got too much. Today was the worst, though. I’m sitting out the back with a beer enjoying every bit of this.
