This game vs WCE today… Is a great example of why having the clocks counting down is such a travesty.
Imagine the last 50 seconds of that game if the clock read 30:22 adn was counting up…
You know the siren’s coming, but you do not know when.
Every second the tension builds.
West Coast get the ball with teh clock reading 32:11 and move it up the wing,. Bomber hearts are in their mouths. More tension, more anxiety, more emotion.
Then the siren goes, and with it the passions of victory, or hope crushed instantly erupt. And teh relief (for teh victorious!!) is instant and palpable.
Instead…
With ten seconds to go, it was pretty clear that the game was over.
The siren really didn’t mean anything. It’s just a limp notation that time wound down. Instead of the tension building, it just gradually leaks out, like toothpaste in a badly packed suitcase.
