The force is strong in that one.

Does that win equal the amount of wins that mckay has had in his career with north?

Stringer chaired off for his 200th game, by the 3 mates he mentioned in the article a couple of days ago, Laverde, Hind and Merrett.

I’d hope he isn’t playing. Liability having him, and Davey taking spots in the team.

I’m going to put this simply for those that don’t get it and seem to be too far ahead of yourself.

We are not that good. I think we all agree we’re not a top 2 or 4 team, but it’s debatable whether we are even a top 8 team. We nearly got beat by 2 players today, and arguably would have if Bolton didn’t get concussed.

I keep saying this but we have a ā– ā– ā– ā–  bottom end and we need to move past them asap.

Note that this is me taking stock of where we are, not just tonight.

Laverde
Kelly
Hind
Heppell
Menzie
Guelfi

There’ll be people who pull me up on each of them, but here goes.

Laverde did a couple of gutsy things, he always does, but he is a limited player. People love him as ā€œheart and soulā€, but he is no good. We need to move on. Reid comes in ASAP and we make the mix work. Baldwin should play as soon as fit if not.

Kelly… Not sure I need to go there.

Hind played an absolute blinder today, just like Guelfi has the last two, but they are both fundamentally limited players and exactly the sort of player that you upgrade if you want to push for a flag. Play Jayden asap and give Tex a go as soon as he gives us half a reason.

Heppell has far outperformed my expectations, I’ll admit, but he is not improving from here and has been just ok, again he’s someone we should be replacing with a Roberts or Baldwin to really find out what they can do (pending mix).

Menzie is out of the side but he illustrates my point - only dropped because he was injured! In fairness, at least there’s some upside there in theory, and he didn’t have much competition.

Not developing Bryan is really hurting us too in the long run.

In summary I think you can sometimes look a mile off when you’re really close, and you can sometimes look real close when you’re a mile off. I think we’re the latter and would still be going the hard rebuild if I had the keys.

Yep. Was about to say, think the forward line works better with him in it.
He drags his defender out of the 50 with his running and also applies very good tackling pressure when he is in the forward 50.

Him in the forward line with two wingers capable of running pocket to pocket really helps our defensive structure and our ability to transfer the ball consistently.

Checks notes.

2MP 4 weeks for taking a mark
Jones 1 week for a red hot tackle.

Nah

guelfi just had to hold onto the ball a bit longer.

We’ve literally been winning ugly for years but it’s forgiven under the guise of ā€œpast Essendon teams would have lostā€.

We actually win these ugly games regulary every 2 years when we make finals. We won something like 5 ugly games in a row ugly a few years back when we kepy coming from behind.

Actually winning impressively to me woul show we are actually building.

At least we didn’t do a Klan

That was some terrible decision making

Mids a little thin now.

Tsatas in for Cox.

Then maybe Roberts or likely Shiel sub next week.

i guess Jones for Caddy too??

OK, off to the bin with you. The one with the lid on.

Caddy didn’t look out of place at all imo

Made a couple of little errors( to be expected), but hit the contest hard. Good at ground level.

We won! That’s good but it was a lot closer than it should have been. For my money the best were Ridley, Redman, Durham and, dare I say it, Hind.
