TIL that the alarm clock over the piano that ushers in Paul’s section of The Beatles’ A Day In The Life was a legitimate mistake. A wind-up alarm clock was sitting on the piano and went off during the take. They proceeded with recording the rest of the song, thinking the ringing had come through a stray mike and they’d be able to “fix it in the mix”. It was only when George Martin and Geoff Emerick were mixing (the band had been sent away having concluded recording) that they discovered it was actually recorded on the piano track and there was nothing they could do, so it was left in.
That seems like quite the coincidence.
Edit: I do like listening out for the digital watch alarm in Rock The Casbah, though.

It comes in, on time, just before Paul Sings ‘woke up, fell outta bed…” and they want us to believe it was an accident…?

Yeah, I’m not sure about it either… no stray ticking from the clock elsewhere, the piano playing stayed perfectly on track and wasn’t interrupted in any way by an unexpected alarm clock brrrrnging at you?
It is discussed about the seven minute mark in this vid about the making of the song. They had the start and the end and didn’t know what to put in the middle when they started recording.

Ok…so this story says Mal Evans set it off on purpose at the end of the 24th bar of the pre orchestra recordings. Makes much more sense.
TIL that Chubby Checker took that name as a play on Fats Domino. It seems so obvious now.

I learned two new things today.
1 - A next door neighbour’s car aerial, carefully folded, makes a perfect coat hanger in an emergency.
2 - Old telephone directories make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and address of people you don’t know.

I particularly enjoy the critiques when you post a joke or other anecdote, that said shitcanner posted 3 years ago.
Not in this particular case.
Today I learned, though I probably actually knew it before that Lawyers exist to give you advice that means you get billed but they have the least amount of work to do.
Mrs Fox started working from home during COVID and her Counselling work became totally online then and has continued that way mostly since. So she did not need her business premises which we own, so we leased them to an another medical practice. Long term commercial lease with good month rent and all outgoings covered, seemed like a good move.
Two years later Practice Partners split so lease altered to one person, since then rent has been slow until recently no rent so tenant was evicted and we find that the person was also ripping off Medicare and NDIS.
Hope you get it sorted. . But it’s beginning to look like everyone’s learning that the NDIS was made to be ripped off.
