Damn this sucks. It wasn’t a real game of marks up games at lunch time at Madison Park Primary School unless you yelled “Modddddrrrrraaaaaaa” as you were flying for the mark.

Always felt bad that he was never a part of either of their flags in 1997 and 1998. I think he hurt his knee in 97, but just didn’t make the team in 98?
He deserved a flag for all the joy he brought Adelaide supoorters

Will forever be etched in my mind from the 93 prelim. Sitting next to an Adelaide supporter the entire first half felt like all I head was M-M-MODRAAAAA.

I mean he wasn’t quite as good as a Jason Dunstall, but there were zero kids in the schoolyard climbing on each other pretending to be Jason Dunstall.

Well Modra was actually likeable. Dunstall, not so much (it didn’t help he played for the Hawks)
It doesn’t sound good for him, which is very unfortunate. I hope he makes a full and complete recovery, it is going to be a long road back, fingers crossed for Modra.
It’s reported (but not confirmed) that a branch went thru the windscreen.
What I loved about watching Modra play was not just the speccies he took but the way he attacked the ball. He would hit a pack at full pelt and just launch himself without any fear for his own safety.
I also loved his what they call these days, ground ball game, his ability below his knees were outstanding for a full-forward from the day.
He was a very smart fooballer too. I remembber a night game at the ‘G against Richmond on a wet night where he was one out in the f50 and he scored the ball about three times towards goal on the boundary, kept it in where he eventually scored the goal. Footy IQ was right up there.
His later years at the Dockers where excellent too.
It really sucked that he did his knee in the ‘97 Prelim and then a year later was dropped for the GF. He really deserved to be a Crows premiership player.

Update this morning is more positive than it sounded last night
The wife of AFL icon Tony Modra has thanked emergency services “who saved his life” as the Crows legend remains in hospital in a “critical but stable condition” following a truck crash in South Australia.
Fellow Crows great and breakfast radio host Mark Ricciuto, who described the former champion forward as “one of my best mates”, read out a statement provided by Modra’s wife Erica on Triple M Adelaide on Friday morning.
“[Erica] said he’s going alright — it’s pretty amazing he’s got through it,” an emotional Ricciuto said on the show.

I’m not sure who it was but it was a group of guys on Red Faces, The last verse was Phil Tufnell can not field. Red gave them a 8.
