Top Ten Favourite Live Albums

In my humble opinion, we can always do with another music thread as long as it generates a bit of quality Blitz discussion (maybe that last bit is a bit over the top) and so I give you the “Top Ten Favourite Live Albums” thread.

It’s pretty simple…just name your top ten favourite live albums.

Here’s mine (in no particular order):

Showtime, Storytime - Nightwish
Let Us Burn - Within Temptation
Strangers In The Night - UFO

Frampton comes alive

I have about 800 albums and not a single live album amongst it. I just can’t get into live recordings without seeing it. “Stop Making Sense” is a good example, I need to watch it. The occasional well-recorded live cut on a compilation is ok, but for listening I want a studio recording. Maybe I’ll whip up a list of fave live DVDs.
(Ironically, I really love Peel Sessions. Raw one-takes in a studio excite me.)

I would consider Peel Sessions as Live recordings. One take, no overdubbing. Doesn’t need to be in a concert to be live.

I saw them do the concerts live in 1984, once at Narrara & a few days later back in Melbourne.

Still by far the best concerts I’ve ever been too, & I wasn’t even much of a fan beforehand.

No-one has yet mentioned…

Slade: Slade Alive (Australia’s top selling album in 1972)
Deep Purple: Made in Japan

2 is better!!!

Alice In Chains - Unplugged
Cheap Trick - At Budokan
Weddings Parties Anything - They Were Better Live
U2 - Under A Blood Red Sky
Midnight Oil - Best Of Both Worlds
XTC - Dew Drops & Rainbow Pops (bootleg)
That is all…
