Browning ran 9.89 with a 4.7 tail wind. (wind assisted) won the race in Austria
I am curious how far James Whelan can go in running. EX WT cyclist who was originally a runner before pivoting to cycling. has now returned to running and ran 611/2 minutes in his first half-marathon in valencia in 2025. Has got his sponsorship sorted so lets see how far he can go in distance running.
He’s certainly got a whole bunch of talent. 61:37 last year, but 65 in Berlin this year. I heard a long interview with him 6 months ago which was really interesting. I think he will end up very good. But it’s also a big step between very good and world class. Time will tell.
I think he is good enough to make an Australian team.
They have half marathon world championships.
Long term you would imagine his focus would be the marathon.
61 mins is pretty elite. Think he was aiming for under 60 his next race but blew up.
Then he needs to convert it to the marathon. And that would put him around 2:06-2:10 if everything goes well. Currently automatic qualifier for Olympics is 2:06:00
SO he needs to race marathons and to get his ranking up if he wants to qualify on ranking.
Gout has torn his hammy very badly - 8cm tear. He’s out for 4-5 months. Big blow. Let’s hope he gets the best recovery
