IF coniglio said he wants to come as a free agent.
Surely we would do what we could to bring him in.
but yeh outside of that I think we should try and hold remaining draft picks and head to the draft
Yeah totally agree with this. And wouldnāt be surprised if it happens. Although heād have to take a lower salary from us like Shiel did because no doubt the St Kilda/Carlton/North type clubs will be throwing the kitchen sink at him.
If we track how we should this year, have a little impact come September then it might be very appealing to him and might just be the icing on the cake for us.
We may have a talented list on paper, but to date they have achieved squat. How much money could they possibly command? At the moment these stars have carried us to 11th on the ladderā¦ seriouslyā¦
If they want success together, itāll all be worked out without much fuss. There has to be a desire to play together, play for the club and genuinely want success. Anyone who is more interested in their back pocket and not these things will hopefully be moved on.
Iād say the 7 All Australians and the Rising Star would all command a bit on the open market. Tom Lynch was a 1mil+ player on the open market and he never had team to success.
And thatās not even including the likes of Walla, Raz, Dev and a few others that would attract a decent offer.
Joey apparently signed for unders when he signed his most recent contract and I expect most others will be as well.
I think the contracts that are hanging over our head at the moment would be the Hooker/Hurley contracts but I expect they would have been front loaded and in a couple of years there value will be considerably less in time to sign up up our next stars.
Joeyās contract was reported as 2.2m for 3 years. Not sure if thatās accurate though.
edit - 2mil for 3 years.
Which at the time seemed pretty reasonable considering on the open market he would have been worth a Mill or more.
If he gets back to AA form this year then his next contract will be huge.
Yeah. Heās a risky one with OP but i wonder if the club would just lock him away for 6 years. Iām sure some other clubs would make that offer.
If we do well this season, others will also see recognise our potential. Good players will want to come and play for us like they do for Hawthorn etc.
Our players know and can feel it in their bones, something special is building they want to stay here to be a part of it. Keeping the team together requires everyone to maybe take a bit less, like Shiel was prepared to do and get more cups in the glass cabinet and hardware around the players necks.
Letās build another dynasty.
Aim high, fly high, mighty Bombers.
We have genuine stars on every line now. There no weaknesses on the list as we have all the talent to not only make finals but win.
The only question is can we deliver when we need to on the day, ie win games against opposition when we should, and play well/match opposition rated better.
Itās all about players attitude and injuries now on there are no shortfalls on the list.
The urgency now is to sign up all our young talent starting with Francis and then go back to the draft. We dont need anymore trades or mature age footballers, our time is now.
We should aim to lock Francis away early before he starts dominating the competition.
All we need to do is get the killer instinct into our talented list.
Coasting to 3 goal wins needs to be turned into 10+ goals beltings.
Especially against lower ranked sides
Hey now, no need to limit ourselves.
We should, but contracts need an offer and an acceptance to be binding.
With his late form last year, no manager in their right mind would sign before he has the chance to duplicate that form in 2019
People need to get used to the idea of some young players seeking a trade for opportunitiesā¦ especially if we have a good run of injuries.
Unfortunately itās the reality of a good list.
Also if we are picking Gleeson or Dea over Ridley or Francisā¦
Or Baguley over Laverde or Begley
Or Myers ahead Parish or Guelfi
The reality is there are 22 spots available every week, and there will be good players missing out.
He did say it, Hap. Itās possible that it was a quick throw-away line - but he did say it.
A little phrase, largely pushed by an admin, to help people feel worse about the team and possibly make themselves feel a little better about their insecurities.

The article doesnāt quote worsfold saying it.
It was the usual case of the headline and gist of the article not really having anything to do with the quotes from the people involved.
I heard him say it with his mouth - not read it in a quote.
