Trade Talk 2019: who should we beat our chest like an ape about now?

One can only hope

Are you talking about Brandon Ellis?
He played 4 VFL games last year and 0 this year.

4 VFL games last year - the first time heā€™s played VFL in about 4-5 years.

You getting him confused with Corey?

Corey Ellis is at GC now also

Whereā€™s Brad Hill going to be next year?

Kelly to Freo and Hill plus a first rounder to Geelong?

Didnā€™t Kelly refuse to consider Freo last year? Only wanted to go to WC

Heā€™s changed his tune now. And theyā€™ll have the currency to keep Geelong happy. Iā€™d say heā€™s realised he can make more money at Freo.

Also saw Hogan, Lobb, Conca & Colyer go there

Freo been going ok on field this year helps too

Yep. The cats could use a player like Hill. Especially if he came with a high draft pick.

Kelly will probably be a Brownlow medalist by the time heā€™s traded so heā€™ll be insanely valuable on the trade table.

Personally, if we have the money for a Brandon Ellis, I would use that money to retain Sam Draper instead. IMHO, a good ruck who can replace Bellchambers is our greatest need.
I wouldnā€™t touch Todd Goldstein who will be turning 32 and going into his 14th seasonā€¦ you may as well get Aaron Sandilands. Great players in the past - but their best is well and truely behind them.

If itā€™s Ellisā€™ flexibility that is enticing the club (as he can play both in defence and as a mid-fielder), Iā€™d prefer to keep developing our own players. Mason Redman would be an ideal candidate as someone who can play both roles, because he already knows how to find the ball, is steady under pressure, could be a contested animal, and is a good user of the ball. We have Ridley and Gleeson who are both capable of filling that hole in defence, or we can always push McGrath back if things need tweaking.

I think we need to check out Jacobs from Adelaide as our ruckman.

Personally I think Ellis is a s h i t footballer. Every Tigers supporter I know thinks heā€™s horrific and Dimma doesnā€™t rate him either. Isnā€™t Ham our future winger? Maybe Ridley for height.

Ham basically is Ellis, but without the meatball physique.
Ellis can play. Heā€™s alright.
He fills a role but itā€™s not one we need.
Itā€™s funny to talk about 180-181cm blokes as small, but thatā€™s the way the game is now.

If we need a big-bodied mid, and Iā€™m not saying we do but if we did, Ellis-Yolmen is exactly that.

We need forwards (of all shapes and sizes) waaaaaay more than outside mids, and we need outside mids more than inside.

Ellis Yolmen is 26, been on and off lists for 8 years for 39 games. 2? knee recos I think.
And, just for a change, currently injured. He can go, but happy to let him be their problem.

Heā€™s a rookie.
Wasnā€™t suggesting selling the farm.
But he does exactly what heā€™s there to do when he plays.
Like I said, Iā€™m not saying we need him.
I am saying we donā€™t have anyone like him.
Maaaaaybe Stringer, but you donā€™t want him playing 80% midfield.
