Trade talk - from October 2024

GWS always bend us over during trades. Happened again. I thought 53 and 56 a minimum and when the talks went cold and both parties walked away that we then had a negotiating advantage if there was still a pulse.
Paul Connors strode in like Clint Eastwood to restart talks - but GWS refused to budge and we rolled over for a couple of beans. Scott must really have wanted Stringer gone. On we go!

The player agents turn up the aircon to try and get deals done

Who said that??

Agree. This trade was not about improving the list, the draft position or the salary cap.

This was a statement by the club about a new approach.

Laverde would have been traded if there’d been interest.

I reckon a few others would have been more seriously discussed if the timing and contract situations had been ripe.

I hope this is the beginning of a list approach that should have been in motion 5-7 years ago but was never considered because Dodoro was stuck in his ways.

If there was no market he shouldn’t have traded him
He’s worth more to us than a useless pick in the 50s
Please don’t quote David King he’s an idiot
Rosa looks like being another AFL plant plotting the demise of EFC

Sorry to see you go Jake now win a flag for the giants

These situations aren’t even comparable. Mass had probably 8 years of footy left and was one of the best kicks at the club who was required to meet a different standard than his older teammates. We could have easily kept him but were too blind to understand what we had on our hands.

Stringer has 1-2 years of footy left and isn’t a part of our next flag side. Our future does not change in any meaningful way. Moving him on is necessary to allow the forward line to change shape sooner rather than later, because there was no way Stringer didn’t deserve to play almost every game last season.

There’s also the somewhat slim chance that pick 54 actually turns out to play some decent footy for us, it’s not impossible.

Rosa mentioned perkins as being the guy to step up into stringer’s role and I absolutely agree

He’s worth more to us to achieve what exactly?

When you come to the terms the goal was always to get Jake off the list, you’ll feel better about it. Good job Rosa.

Who the fk would say in October the plan is to go backwards in the next season? Not least someone who isn’t even part of the coaching staff.

Massive grain of salt on that Rosa statement.

Jake going is not a wake up call to the players I’m going to be mad.

Connors is a grub, when has he ever looked after us?
