Trade talk - from October 2024

They’re absolutely doing the right thing. Play as many of these top 25 picks next year as possible. Do that and they’re a lock for the spoon next year. So pick 1 in 2025, too.

Stringer for 53 or Membrey. I don’t get the Pies.

Well it’s how you plan to do a rebuild. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Let’s see where Richmond are in 5 years.

It’s a perfect storm for them to do a rebuild. They have recently won 3 flags and thus have premiership level players to trade out for good picks. A handful of star players wanted to leave at the same time**.The Tiger army is relatively content for all this to happen given recent premiership success.

We don’t have any of that.

**Why aren’t people questioning why everyone wants out of Richmond?

I don’t think people know what his off field issues are.

Shouldn’t be a problem for us then…

They really haven’t though.

Pies have lost the plot …. sacrificing the future on the roll at a 2025 premiership “for the old boys” & losing key future players to do so. With Tassie of the horizon is bordering on the stupid & probably why there was/is a management exodus. Don’t reckon they are anywhere near it either … :man_shrugging:t2:

True.

Can say Lawry etc arent joking when they say they cant go into more detail about it, its definitely out their in the industry what his issues are rumoured to be.

Teams have tried this ‘one more tilt’ approach over many years, including us, and it usually ends up in an epic failure.

Yep Pies are all in, if they don’t win the flag they’re in list trouble. They’re reasoning is also quite arrogant apart from expecting a flag they believe that they can get around the lack of draft picks by attracting the best free agents because “they’re Collingwood”

Someone tell Oliver not to try too hard.

What if they haven’t played a game?
Then, they aren’t really oppo players are they?

Perhaps the team needs inspiration.
All players paint your nails, toes optional.
Then some player walks out with see through footy boots

I think it’s because it explains itself. They’re not the guys who were part of the rebuild, Rioli was there for one bad year in 2016 and that’s it. Rioli, Baker, Bolton and Graham’s experience is that professional football is winning flags. The success ended, the coach left, the key off field people left, the team’s ■■■■, better teams have come offering them big money, and richmond said “okay, leave”.

Stick Merrett in Stringer position. Caldwell in midfield rotated with Hobbs, Durrie & Setters. I think Merett will raise his xfactor. It will change the team dynamic & hopefully well all say later on next year Stringer who?

Let’s just hope this new hard line approach is applied across the team from rookie to Captain

It’s only a good idea if it works.

You cant say those words at the Gabba.

They already went through the build phase and then won three premierships. What’s left to achieve at Richmond?

Rather than sit through another rebuild, they’re getting their bag at other clubs.

Robertson, Culley, Hughes, Jeka all good players but had limited opportunities.
