Trade talk - from October 2024

except that Goldy, LAV and Wright are still on the list.

every man and his dog wanted Kelly and Heppell to be replaced at least one time during the last couple of years.

We were the 7th ranked team last year for experience.
this year ranked 8th so far.

Goldy may skew it, but hes still on the list.

The core of our next phase has to be focused on the 50+ group and below as the ones above are the same ones that have let us down year on year when the heat comes

It’s the same sh*t every year.
Garbage team after the Bye.
We scrape a few lucky wins when the oppo are terrible…
ie Coll this year, or Crows at Marvel in '23.

Whenever a team comes with any heat, we crumble.
Sick of it TBH.

Has finals experience.

Prior sits behind Starcevich, Answerth and Coleman, but he’s always been OK when I’ve watched.

Definitely my favourite. No to Witherden. ā– ā– ā– ā–  no to Narkle. Don’t know enough about Hoare, and don’t know whether Rotham fills a hole either. Why are WCE dumping him? No need for Culley either.

I’d put Freo ahead of Port and Geelong.

They are stacked.

I dunno if i trust Fremantle, I mean they lost to us late in the season when the wheels had fallen off and they had finals to play for.

Always hoping end is near for cats, but Hawkins and Tuohy were past their best and Smith will boost their midfield.

Port, a poor start and fans will be calling for Hinkley’s sacking.
Their midfield still young and will improve - Butters, Rozee & Horne, boak playing on they will be there abouts.

I really liked Scully as a junior and still reckon he can make himself a decent player

Is that the tall KPF? was rated a top draft pick early days. ended up pick 53.

203cm kicked 50 goals as a junior in under 18’s.

Convert from soccer.
West Adelaide boy like Francis.

Yep. Still only 19 and has natural forward ability. I think he might get a go somewhere else

Feels like a very weird delisting as developing forward seems to be ticking boxes

Out of curiosity, what is this based on? Just not read it before.

We’ve got Langford, Merrett, Draper, Ridley, Lav, McGrath, Goldstein, Shiel, Setterfield, Wright, Redman, Parish, Gresham who are all over 25ish. Caldwell and Duursma ~24. It’s not a young side.

The same coach and mostly same team had us finish above bottom 4 both the last two years.

If they could take back the Hopper and Taranto trades. But yes, generally they’ve done well.

I agree, but they will need to nail most of the picks. They haven’t got much left to trade so it is this year or an extended period on the bottom. The chances of finding another Dustly are remote to I think. I will watch them next year with interest, will be looking fro hits and misses from this draft.

You’re equating views of many different Blitzers views into one (contradictory) position. Very much a strawman. I’d also point out:

  • trading out half the list is meant to destroy the culture. The bad one. So we can start clean.
  • The ones wanting to cull the list don’t want discards.
  • The club has lied about the direction. Otherwise why didn’t they make more substantial changes? We got Gresham/Goldy/McKay after Scott’s first y.
  • These are roughly the same players as under Worsfold, under Rutten and under Scott for two years. Why on earth would we expect standards to change?*
  • We’ve literally got no more first round picks than we started off with + Kako who is an AFL freebie. Where is any youth policy?
