I haven’t heard that we are getting any Irish recruits.
I saw 2 of the younger players in a pub in Ascot Vale yesterday late afternoon. Walking through the front bar with a pint in their hands. Yes they deserve to have a life but the optics were terrible. Just stay off the beers in public.

You’re funny, except you’re not.
Were the players abusive? Were they drunk? Were they disrespectful?
One or two beers in November isn’t really a problem.
Really ? surely they can have a beer or two and socialise with friends in public.
I’m with quiet on this.
Pub beer is really shithouse, so I’m concerned about their lifestyle choices.
Next we’ll find out they buy bread from Aldi, and wear yellow.
Can I ask that you all look up the definition of optics before you pile on.
Now that training has just recently started, prolly best to stay off the beers especially in opening weeks of preseason.
They just come off 2 months of drinking.
Can I ask that you look up the definition of ‘players deserve to have a life’ before criticising them for a couple of drinks?
If they’ve done everything for their recovery, one or two beers has little impact on performance.
If they’re having a lot of drinks, then that’s a problem.
Name names.
Please dont name names
Just seen Harry Jones watching his mate score a hundred in local cricket instead of training 16 hours a day.
Appalling standards. Club is ■■■■■■.
How do you know it was “a couple”? They might have been there till stumps for all we know.
Even better stay off the beers after training…
EDIT: Thought it was Friday. Not as bad on Saturday if it was a couple only.
Can I get you to read this article before you get the board to pile on to these young blokes who are doing nothing wrong?
It’s the off-season. As long as they’re doing their training, weights and recovery work a few beers won’t hurt
Even better only eating organic foods and drinking water, but footballers are human beings. They’re allowed to have a drink.
Read a journal article that said responsible levels of alcohol have minimal impact on recovery. Drinking a lot is obviously a problem.
Provided it’s not their initial source of hydration post a workout (I’d be surprised if it was), and provided it’s a responsible amount of alcohol, it’s not a problem.
Nobody said they weren’t allowed but does it show the absolute mindset to make sure you give yourself every chance to succeed…
Article today about Sanders in the draft and how he missed his school formal to train. Plenty of professional athletes don’t drink and plenty are perfectionists when it comes to nutrition and recovery. Even Degooey gave up alcohol mid season and iirc Collingwood as a team did also.
