ā€œSorry guys. Iā€™ve been busy building the 87th floor of my boutique B&B, so just wanted to pop by and say Iā€™m keen to hear what people have to say.ā€

I donā€™t like the way he subtly flaunts his success, and golf prowess to us plebs.

Thank goodness

At least itā€™s concussion protocols and not covid protocols.

They have to be careful with the concussion stuff with Kelly. Heā€™s a bit of an animal at the contest, very courageous and plays in a manner that opens himself up to plenty of head knocks.

Training today in pleasant warm conditions with very little wind.

For some reason the session started much later today, we were told 11am when we arrived but everyone was out on the track by 10.30 with the session going for just under 2 hours.

There were quite a few absent or modified today - Francis was seen inside the hanger but didnā€™t come out while Sheil and Kelly werenā€™t sighted.

The modified group was Snelling, Perkins, Hurley, Stringer, Redman, Reid, Phillips, McBride and Tippa.

There didnā€™t seem to be too much wrong with anyone in the modified group, they were all doing running, kicking and ball handling at various stages. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if a few of them arenā€™t just managing loads.

Tippa seems to be progressing well and looks to be in good spirits. He looks to have slimmed down in the waist in the last few weeks and is still very solid in the upper body. Hopefully he will be ready by early to mid season.

Hurley and Reid both look to be making excellent progress, I would expect both to be rejoining the main group in the not too distant future.

Of the main group They mainly did various ball moving drills along with some limited match sim. There wasnā€™t a lot to take out of this as there there were restricted numbers and not many big men, as Draper and Bryan spent a lot of the session doing specialised ruck work with Jamar.

One of the stand out for me though was Cox who took several strong marks drifting in from the side. Heā€™s had several interruptions this pre season but looks to be hitting some good form at the right time.

The other player that was noticeable for different reason was Tex, as he did a power of extra work on top of what the other players were doing. While most of the group were having a break in between drills he did various sprint exercises before rejoining the group for the next drill. And as mentioned previously at the end of the session he did more 100 metre sprints with the running coach and when told to finish up he asked to do two more. The impressive part was he did all this extra work without ever looking too fatigued. He looks super keen to grab a senior spot as soon as possible and make a big impression, you certainly couldnā€™t fault his attitude.

I should also mention one bit of play he did in the natch sim. He was corralled by several opponents, managed to break a tackle and then dodge and weave past them into the clear. Itā€™s a long way from the start of pre season where he didnā€™t have the confidence to really take the game on, Iā€™m certainly hoping for big things from him this year.

Otherwise the other thing that stands out at this stage is the overall skill level compared to previous seasons. They seem to be running a lot harder both offensively and defensively, and not only hitting more targets but going for better quality options.

Lets hope itā€™s not a false dawn and is transferred onto the season proper.

Francis didnā€™t train today, was in casual training gear, walking a little proppy. Looks to have pulled up sore from the knee incident in the practice game. Hopefully nothing too bad.

Thanks for your much-anticipated report @nackers
How did Stringer look to you, mate?

Iā€™m just going to wander off to the Best 22 thread to make a Wanganeen adjustment to the line-up.
