Honestly, i just canāt understand it from both Clarke and the club. If I was Clarke, Iād be spending my time with other clubs, as thatās where his best chance is.
If we re-rookie him again, he wonāt get a look in and will likely be in the same situation next year.
Itās just frustrating because it feels so indecisive from the clubā¦ā¦ heās either good enough or heās not.
Potentially he has an invite to train with StK but they donāt want him there until 17tb so he just trains with us in the meantime rather than on his ownā¦
Really not much to report from today. Looks like 20-25 players out with covid⦠which consists almost all of the normal starting 22.
You could not read much at all into the session today. Light session back with a number of ball movement drills from midfield to forward. Out of that Francis lead up to the ball very well and kicked a number of goals. Stringer was potent and i thought Caldwellās hands were very impressive⦠in fact Truck stopped a play and noted Jye to the team as an example if what he wants in that particular drill.
Must admit no one really stood out in the younger group with Daveys, Hird, Misiti etc⦠but drills were limited in really showing what they can do. Was simply not enough players present. It quickly reminded you on how complex this year could be. I also wondered if Essendon may re-think in how they finalise their last two spots. Wondered if there is a thought process of more mature players like McDonagh to have ready during the year if another covid outbreak?
Just take the guys with the upside. Fejo and Wangas are both critical depth in areas that we donāt have any depth. To pull a more mature guy just because of covid would be a mistake. (Especially if that guy is Clarke or Gleeson or similar). We arenāt expecting to win a flag this year. If we go close to it, it will be because of youngsters continuing to stand up, not because we had an extra one or two mature aged journeymen filling in for a couple of weeks.
