Pre-season is a bit like teaching actually. Expectations are high over the Summer, everything looks fine on paper, primed to hit the ground running, and then the ■■■■ hits the fan Round 1. Good luck and take no prisoners.

Could always get a gig teaching the new Essendon Academy RMIT course next year and make the students task to report on training. Just saying.

So unless the senior players returned early, they have 2 weeks of training before the xmas break. They could start in January.
From the AFLPA Agreement;
Players shall receive two weeks Leave over Christmas and New Year (Christmas
Leave) and may not be required to resume training prior to 4 January in any year.
He’s 5ish months removed from his stress fractures. You’d hope it’s just the club being ultra cautious with him

Hold on; I figured you were getting close to retirement. Very mature adult University student or your old man is still the lively little character I knew as a kid !! I guess becoming a teacher is nearly retirement.

So one is not allowed to have an opinion. The current preseason is too long. Players come back in January and will then have 10 weeks before round 1. This is more than enough time for team preparation.
