Training Monday 30/1/17

Thanks for the report. I would love to hear more on the Laverde injury. Was it a rip/strain or did he just feel something tight and decide to go off?? Anyway RIP Lav.. 2018 is less than a year away.

I’m not sure what we are meant to say about this type of stuff as supporters but I can’t see how it would be super sensitive when a player hurst himself in pre season. From what he said to the trainer it was clear that he thought he had torn something but the way he was moving it looked like hammy, quad or calf type of thing. He also grabbed his glute so who knows.

Sounds like he’s ripped the hamstring off the bone. RIP

"In simulation drills he almost treats the opposition players with distain .. "

Lock this kid in for round 1.

When I say distain… I just mean he has this look on his face like he just doesn’t care who he is playing against or how much experience they have have. Its the look Hibberd used to have when he started with us.

Really, truly ? that’s fantastic to hear/see.

Thanks for the report hillchaser.

I treat news of the Lav injury with disdain.

I went to my first training session for the year and can’t add anything to the very comprehensive report pinned straight up. However:

  1. Tippa looks great
  2. Jobe looks ready to go
  3. I now know who the Fridge is. The fans are going to love him.
  4. Stanton is quicker than I remembered

Stanton could play off the bench amazingly with that tank. Can fit in hb, hf or midfield to give a chop out depending on who we’re playing. Can kick a goal too.

Lav the new Myers

PeoS called that a while a go

Thanks for the report HC.
Any thoughts on Koby Mutch and how he is went today?

Thanks for the massive report hillchaser:

Who do I spend my panic dollars on?

For the first time in years I feel we have future replacements for our soon to retire players.

If LAV’s out it could push Langford to half forward instead, like he should be.

Joe Dan?

What is Ridley doing that impresses? Heard a bit about him but seems to fly under the radar here. Midfielder with time and skill? Seems skinny?

I was talking to David Myers on the weekend and he singled Ridley out for some really high praise so he’s impressing his peers too. He did acknowledge that Ridley obviously needs to put some weight on before we see the best of him.

I wasn’t there, so I have no info on Joe.
But I would be very surprised if he does much in the next couple of weeks at least, other than a few skills drills, and lots and lots of running. He has to achieve a fitness base, which he would have completely lost in his 3mths or so of not training. You would expect him to build it up slowly.
Last Wednesday, Morgan ran and ran, not just jogging laps, but timed, repeat 3/4 pace 100m runs with short gaps between them. And that was his preparation for joining in full training today it seems. Joe would be built up to something similar before we see him doing anything that might risk muscular strain or tear.

still doesn’t answer what hes actually doing.

Joe has been running and sprinting on the 2nd oval for the past 6-8 weeks. Fitness will not be an issue for Joe

Everything else is great to hear. But Joe is everything.

Someone give us something…

Joe today was Ok today, one drill where they had to hit there teammate that was running towards an open goal seemed to be a bit rusty shanked the kick and was filthy on himself. swapped feet on the 2nd attempt and hit the target loud cheer by the group.

Thanks for the report Guybrush Threepwood

"... Dylan Clarke is big for a young kid. Kicking practice with one of the trainers after the main session. His kicking looks good but if I was a biomechanics specialist I would say there is a part of his ball drop that looks slow and leaves room for error...."

Not many Blitzers rate Clarke at this point, even though he was originally rated by some as a first round draft pick ( 12) on the basis of elite contested and clearance facets of his game and he was likened to a Luke Parker.

Its good to see the coaches putting time into his kicking . If his disposal can be improved he could be the steal of our draft selections at pick 63. I will be very interested to see his progress this year.
