Did anybody ever think they’d see a modern football team having to teach their players how to the mark

Fk me

Thanks for the report…manning the mark is a simple area we can improve on, glad they are focusing on it…other teams shut us down all the time, and we have been lazy manning the mark and let the opposition get easy disposals.

He wasn’t listed but I wouldn’t be suprised if the 4th was Max Fletcher

Blah blah blah Ridley does seem to be stepping up and becoming more prominent, particularly in one on one work. In a few of the sessions this year he has been one that had had some specialised work and he does now appear to be more confident in the contest.

Every time I see Smith I realise more and more how much we missed him last year, not only the pressure he brings but also his sure skills off both feet, he very rarely misses a target.

Mutch is another one who appears to be making good progress, still a little loopy with some of his kicks but he is moving very well and looking more and more comfortable in traffic.

blah blah blah

Lid right off.

I will start to get concerned if this was a report post xmas.

I imagine it will be full on from Jan, 6 weeks of intense training and match play with the aim of having most of the squad fit and healthy participating.

We just got to trust the new fitness guy…hopefully the plan is for the modified group guys to get right to join in full sessions post christmas.

Yes they did look like key position players, all a very good size. One of them had a really big kick on him.I actually googled Brand to get his photo but wasn’t sure if it was him or not.

Who is Nigel?

Is that you, Donald?

I’m all for them doing 1%s but it’s no point doing it if it’s not with some sort of intensity. I couldn’t see any benifit at all in a couple of drills.

Yep I’m thinking same

Injuries aside to some, all the players would be on modified/managed training loads of sorts. Literally no need for them to be at cherry ripe fitness at this part of preseason.

An AFL season is brutal so looking after the players imperative

It also may be that today was either a planned easier day as harder session had happened previously / coming up.

It’s almost like they’re training at a low intensity so as not to add to an already too-high injury list.

No idea with Merrett, he was out running with the modified group at the start of pre season but hasn’t been seen for a couple of weeks.

Shiel was getting a massage from a trainer in his upper buttock area yesterday so I’m guessing it’s a niggle around that area. It doesn’t look too serious from what I have seen, overall he looks in pretty good nick.

Yes I was wondering if one of them may have been a Fletcher, there was some sort of resemblance.

I hope so as it’s been particulalry underwhelming so far compared to previous years

Hard to get a handle on it with the new fitness guy in place I guess.

It seems we are really going back to basics this pre-season. Mind you, I’m okay with that. We need to.

Parish and McGrath look in good nick, and very impressed with Francis. He looks infinitely fitter than last year.
