Training - Monday November 3, 2025

Unofficial training today.

Small group of players trained this morning, including Nic Martin, Zach Reid, Vigo Visentini, Kayle Gerreyn, Angus Clarke and Sam Durham. Lot of the boys are still away, some attending Andy McGrath’s wedding.

Martin is gonna be one of those blokes back early from a knee reco I reckon, just lives and breathes footy. Bryan looking a decent size, hopefully the knee reco has allowed him significant time for strength training in the gym.

Did say last year that he wanted to take inspiration from Will Ashcroft who came back from an acl quickly

So to try and catch up to the best teams we have a longer off-season. 10 weeks annual leave is a joke

I thought the “ holiday break” was ordered by the AFL or players union. Players come back early on their own initiative. Could be wrong and it is the club rewarding the guys for another outstanding season.

Players union and AFL just do what they say.

Players can come back but clubs cant do any testing or check in if they are doing any fitness work during that time

It absolutely is a joke. The ammos go back sooner.

They are professional athletes, who get paid very very well to be so.

It is hugely detrimental to them physically, in an ever increasingly demanding sport.

It’s incredible how much power the aflpa have, especially considering there is no alternative competition the players could play in anyway, they don’t have any bargaining power.

I’d actually prefer they’re paid less too and that money saved goes back into making the sport much bigger.

It’s not like they stop training and just resume again when they get back to the club.

They continue to do work during their breaks. It’s just a time where they don’t have to be directly engaged in the club. The expectation at most clubs is players return in better shape than they left, anyway.

Players can be docked pay if they don’t return in adequate shape as per the CBA, too.

Merrett training with these guys or does he prefer the company of players from other clubs?

It’s just fascinating the club tries to preach that they’re acting tough now….. yet this clown is still the captain.

He’s a training snob, not a leaders ■■■■■■■.
