We have 4 weeks to the first preseason game
4! = say, 12 training sessions.
About half our list are in the “did not get even half a preseason”

Question for @nackers or @jackie_mihocek
where did Hird and Johnson play - Forward/defence /mid?
191cm 87kg averaging 30.6 disposals.
21yo. Yeah, I’d have a look.
not really, Jarrod Cameron similar type taken in next 2 picks and Hawks took a while to decide whether they wanted to keep Mozzie or not.
At his pick range, it is harder to make it, so he will need to work hard.
I thought he showed plenty in his debut, that he could be a good player down the track if he works hard.
For the experienced guys like Heppell and Stringer, I don’t think missing out on main training is a big deal if they are still doing a fair bit of running, like Heppell already is. He would only need 2 or 3 weeks with the main group to get his touch back to a good enough level… assuming his fitness is at its best.
Edit: But despite the bagging of Heppell on here, I would imagine his leadership on the training track would be sorely missed and if he was there, he might help to push the intensity up
Is the NEAFL any good though? Whats 30 possessions in the NEAFL compare to in VFL possessions?
Gotta be concerning another season potentially going to waste because we have a number of players in and out of the mod group
Well how many does it equal
Its an intersting observation @jackie_mihocek . For me i thought our energy with 24 and under aged group prior to Christmas was really good. It was vibrant and the hard work and drive was there to see. Only been to two sessions in Jan and there has been a more conservative feel now the whole group is back. Hard to truly put a finger on it or if i should be alarmed. Was a big shift though in numbers to modified group. But if i am honest the last session i did see… i did say to myself… i am not quite sure these drills are overly inspiring
Just what I saw today, but it reinforces what we’ve all been seeing for years.
You said that the Hawks didn’t match our bid on Mozzie, as though they were right & we were wrong.
Even your God like devoted coach Dimma said after the Dreamtime game, that he was exciting & a beauty.
So who is right, Dimma, or the Hawks who love recruiting 30yo’s?
If you say the Hawks, then I’ve got a shadow you can jump at
If the running video the other day is anything to go by it’s because they run slow at training!
Would it be a shock to anyone that the senior guys aren’t bringing the intensity?
Thanks for the great report Nackers.
Curious about Francis and who he matched up on?
How did you find his kicking today and did he take on aggressive kicks?
I think Tom Mitchell had 50 a few times maybe even 60 but that was a while ago.
NO weve been searching for senior intensity for years,
its been all uninspiring and a lot of that is caused by team selection and playing favs…why train when you are guaranteed a game…
They are managing ridley’s training loads.
Anyone concerned? Managing loads automatically has me thinking groins coz of the joe story
Says Cahill played at half back in the match sim. That’s interesting
I watched Richmond train a handful of times in 18 and 19 and it was pretty mellow and very unlike how they play. They would go end to end unopposed and similulating defensive pressure. The ball didn’t hit the ground for over 10 minutes and they were varying between flat out leads and going through the motions.
Only ever saw matchsim once and the biggest difference to us was you had to earn your kicks. Had to make your own space and do it yourself. Opposition would hunt and teammates wouldn’t shepherd. Game was very open compared to Essendon match sims I’ve been to in the past few years where it’s congested and nothing really happening with ball in hand.
