Training Session Wednesday 24January 2024

Play well in practice matches

If we have Wright & 2 rucks chosen then be picked ahead of Langford or Stringer

He’s got a bit to do

Good to see him clunking marks at training however

He didn’t mark it. Went out the back to 2mp

Round one id go with one ruck being goldie seeing as Draper hasn’t had a full preseason then have caddy in

I agree. I have locked in flights and accommodation for Round One and I’d love to see him out there. All this pre season hype has worked a treat.

Happy to hear more news about the session …

I wasn’t there. But the person who took the photo and posted it to twitter said that it got out the back to 2MP so I like to think that’s a pretty reliable source.

Looks like the players’ fake tan bottle ran out before Hayes turned up today.

haha. Doesn’t take away from what a beast of a player we may have on our hands.

Gonna?

Doesn’t he suggest an amusing comment to Wright that nothing gets out the back past Caddy? His quote is below. Maybe i am reading that wrong and Caddyshack means something else lol

“2.03 easing out the back door, errrrrrrrr he’s been around long enough to know there is no back door at The CaddyShack

EDIT: Don’t know why the link didn’t preview like it normally does, but for those that can’t see, it just says: “no, (funny enough) it went out the back door to 2.03”. That was in response to a fan asking if Caddy marked it.

Oh missed that lol. All good

Someone’s gotta keep them kids honest.

Training Notes

I managed to catch 2 hours of training today, the group was split in red and black teams, no really 1s vs 2s but a bit more of a mix today.

A lot more running involved between drills today, it seemed a tough session before the break. There were numerous drills with smaller group involving ball movement before I caught 20min of a larger match sim.

  • No Hobbs, we assume away sick as was not sighted.
  • Ridley rehab running – looks a minor calf, should be back pretty soon
  • Tex, only did handball and nothing else, not really progressing.
  • Shiel, spent most of the session running at a slow pace and some kicking.
  • Draper is stepping it up, completed the full warm up with the group, before going onto running, kicking, one to one marking with a coach and some lateral movement. At a guess 2 weeks away from main training.

Hind did the match sim as a forward and kicked a nice crumbing goal, as did J. Davey in the opposite side. First time seeing Davey in match sim, he has silky skills but still working himself into things.

Durham played a bit inside, would be our strongest mid (excluding Stringer) if he played that role, he can bust out of a pack with force.

First time Weideman has does match sim, so won’t judge too harshly but he didn’t cause Baldwin much concern.

Jones took his trademark pack mark, Caddy impressive again especially 2nd and 3rd efforts. I really like the kid!

Langford tried to take mark of a year a few times but didn’t get close.

Lual got a bit more involved today, but from the outside seems he doesn’t feel 100% comfortable yet and scared to make a mistake, think we will see him develop as the year goes on as he gets more confident.

Usually over the years there are 5-10 blokes in some form of rehab for us at this stage so very happy with the health of the list (touch wood). I’ve also noted as a few others have a more serious element to training, a lot of purpose and direction.

Lastly saw Dodoro watching even though on annual leave and Colin Young (player manager) was chatting to him and watching on.

Thanks for the report AllStar. Keeps us up to date and informed eg JDavey increasing his load, Draper continuing his rehab with lots of running and kicking with coaches. I saw Draper on that last Saturday and he looks strong. Probably building up overall fitness levels and strength in his groin muscles. Looking good for a Round 1 start if he rejoins full training in next 2 weeks.

He needs to displace Weideman. Scott will give him…ooh… 10 weeks to prove himeself.
